Frost King WAT500 5 x 1/2 x 36" Wood Threshold, Clear Oak

This was the perfect product to transition from our flooring to the newly installed tile. Worked perfectly.

Please be aware that all you get is the wood strip, it comes with no installation hardware, this could be because you might install this in multiple ways.When I looked at thresholds in the local hardware stores, they all came pre drilled and with screws, not so in this case, it is not predrilled and there are no screws provided. This was perfect in my situation as we needed to glue the item down using liquid nails as we did not wish to drill into the concrete floor to install. This allowed us to transition between tile and carpet, the main reason was to cover some ragged carpet edging.I am not sure if there is really any finish on this item either, we sprayed it with a clear coat to add some protection and to make it easier to clean going forward if need be.I am knocking a star off though for lack of hardware to install should you need it, I understand that its a cheap item already, but a few cents of screws being included would have made the package seem more complete. I will however be purchasing several more for the other doors in the house! If you do not need hardware (or you have your own) or plan to install with glue as I did, these are a great approach!

Pre-drilling the holes with a very small drillbit is essential to prevent cracking. also use longer and very thin screws . It is a very thin transitional piece but it looks very nice.

A nicely done product, but you may care about some of the following: 1) Three of the five I ordered had visible dark knots. One was just a pinhole, another a little bigger, and the third nearly 1/4 inch. This may meet an industry standard for clear oak, but it doesn't meet mine. Fortunately, all three knots were within 6 inches of one end, so could be trimmed off in fitting these 36-inch thresholds into 30-inch doorways. 2) Some ends were not square. They appear to be long enough to still be the full 36 inches once you cut the ends square. 3) The oak species is not specified as red or white, so you have to guess when buying finishes.

Had a planer burn mark. Sanded out.

The product is good, I would even say excellent, but the color was to darker and slightly redish to what the picture on the add showed.

Good quality for the price. Fast delivery. I have ordered four of these and there is a lot of difference in grain, some very dark. I like the inconsistency for natural wood look.

The threshold arrived with a discolored black stripe (see top of threshold). I should've returned it but we were anxious to get something on the threshold and I thought maybe the stain would hide it. Otherwise, we like the thickness and quality but now have a discolored stripe on our threshold.

Having waited ten days for delivery, I had this fitted to our open threshold after laying a new floor. After less that 24 hours, I noticed a crack diagonally down the entire length of the wood. I must admit that I had seen that it was warped slightly at one end but thought it would "settle in" when fitted. I hadn`t expected it to split apart just by walking on it, surely that is what it is for. The floor is level there is no door so this item is not fit for purpose and shouldn`t be sold as described. As it has been cut to fit the doorway, I cannot send it back, unfortunately. So beware...don`t waste your money, like me. Utter rubbish. Amazon, why can`t we have an option to rate items with Minus stars??

I got this today and I'm disappointed with the quality. 1/3 of the board length has a dark rough patch. Would be unusable if staining, but I am painting it, so should be ok with some sanding. Pretty terrible company quality control if they ship this kind of garbage.
