Better for travel than the Martin 000 - Warm tone, compact size, indestructible material
We tested out small travel guitars by Martin and Gibson in a range of high end wood types, and nothing came close to the tone and playability for such a compact size. Assembled, this is larger than the smallest size travel guitar, thus generating higher quality sound, but folded it is even more compact, making it perfect for air travel overhead bins, camping trips and space limited road trips. We were skeptical that the carbon fiber would sound as warm as our favorite full size Martins, but this came close, just at a quieter volume. It definitely sounded less banjo-ish than the 000 or taylor baby. Add in a tiny pocket amp like the Blackstar Fly, and you get the bonus of both electric and acoustic options while on the road! Absolutely perfect for a travel.

Journey Instruments OF660M
I sold my McPherson Kevin Michael carbon fiber 3/4 size guitar to buy the Journey Instruments OF660M. The guitar is made in China and the finish is rough on the parts of the guitar that do not show. This helps keep the cost down. The cost is $1735 and the cost of a Kevin Michael is $3500. I bought the OF660M because the neck disconnects and I can travel on a plane with it. I did not expect the sound to be as good as the Kevin Michael. To my amazement the OF660M has a better sound. I find it hard to put it down. The sound is clear, full and the sustain is long. Amazing for fingerstyle playing. I also own a Martin D45 and a Gibson Southern Jumbo both have amazing sounds. I enjoy playing all three guitars equally. I had some questions and reached out to the company and they got back to me within a day and answered all my questions. I certainly recommend this guitar. Thank you Journey Instruments.

Impeccable.. and I am picky
I have owned many high end guitars, and this is well worth the price.. even compared to anything else.It sounds different, but a good kind of different. And the neck removal plus durability is kind of mind blowing given the instrument itself sounds so good.I never write reviews, but this is for the people on the fence about it.. go for it!

Pretty cool concept, really good sound, few drawbacks
I am far from a trained player, however I have been in the market for an acoustic for several years. The Rainsong guitars had decent appeal, however I couldn't find one that wasn't overly bright sounding for my tastes. Nor could I find one with features like a 14 fret-to-body neck with a matte/satin neck as gloss necks don't work with my sweaty hands. So after much research and sound reviews I settled on the Journey Instruments OF660M.In my opinion there are many more pros than cons with this instrument. I really appreciate the sound (quality and volume produced) and stability (both the carbon fiber construction and locking neck-to-body mechanism) with this guitar. Fit and finish of the overall construction is very, very good. I was slightly worried that it would not create the sound I hoped for, however, even though it is closer to a parlour sized guitar, it does produce a fairly warm, but tight, sound. Fairly good harmonics too. The tuning stability is something to desire. Even after removing the neck for storage, once locked and screwed back on strings are already almost completely in tune. Temperatures don't change the stability either. I played around for a few hours inside a 70 degree (F) house, disassembled into the travel case, then a few hours later reassembled and played inside a 20 degree (cold) garage without the need but for the slightest retuning. Additionally the travel/storage case, is as well made as any piece of travel luggage. Plenty of protection for the instrument inside as well as well thought out storage options for accessories (straps, picks, tuners, etc.), sheet music, or even a smaller laptop. The few drawbacks for me, and there really are only a few, include fairly muted highs (very possibly because of the orientation of the sound hole being more towards the bass side) and more of a classical width fretboard. I have played primarily strat-style and wizard necks on my electrics for many years and have tinkered around on many other acoustics (I really like Taylors) so I know what my preferences are, and granted I don't have very large hands, but the string spacing is WIDE. I am finding I am having to warm up longer and adjust/expand/stretch my muscle memory to adjust versus picking up and playing. There is a part of me that is endeavoring to persevere, but an instrument that physically fights you is typically not an instrument that gets played as often.Aside from those few personal drawbacks, I'm very happy with the instrument. I will highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a travel guitar that produces a great sound!
