Amazingly effective
95% perfect. Here is my assessment: 1. The instructions are not very good. A more step-by-step set of photos would have helped because placement is important and you don’t want to start drilling holes until you’re sure. 2. Instructions for folding it back up are missing. Getting the unit back in the bag was difficult. 3. On the first attempt at dust collection the excess fabric got pulled into the dust port and stopped most of the airflow. I solved this problem by two rows of self-adhesive Velcro to hold the excess fabric against the back of the till cart on which the miter saw sits. Once everything was properly set up, no saw dust escaped onto the floor. Highly effective!

MAKE YOUR WORKSHOP GREAT AGAIN !!! - Attached to a Ridgid Saw
I couldn't be more impressed with how well this works. I have this mounted on a Ridgid 10" compound miter saw. Before my workshop full of Man Tools was always polluted with saw dust, every surface high and low would continue their dusty progression. Dust would be tracked upstairs to the woman areas which was putting a negative effect on the sammich production. Not any more. This hood catches 99% of saw dust, there are only minute amounts on the floor now. The majority of sawdust from a miter saw comes out the sides of the blade, so your bag or even a vacuum attachment is only catching a small amount. Overall performance: Excellent Installation: Head scratcher. The directions are pointless, there are no examples of this being attached to your particular saw, and my google machine was not hitting on any Ridgid mounts. I scratched my head for a while making sure whatever it was mounted to still allowed for all cuts, even bevel. After what seemed like forever it finally came to me, hopefully the pictures attached to this review will help other Ridgid saw owners. Range of Saw Motion: 95% still workable. There is only one 45° compound bevel cut to the left that can not be made with my current mount setup. So only if I have to fully extend the saw which is only on large moldings. But that same cut can be made on the right side. Overall: 4.9 stars. Directions and their youtube video are trash. It is mounted to a 2.5" dedicated Ridgid shop vac with an iVac Automated Vacuum Switch which is a dream come true. Saw turns on, shop vac turns on 2 seconds later, saw turns off, shop vac turns off 8 seconds later. I used a 4" fernco coupling and Woodstock W1044 4-to-2-1/2-Inch Reducer The construction seems very strong which relates in the price. If you want a clean workshop or jobsite this is for you.

Great solution, only minor complaint
My Ryobi 10" sliding compound mitre saw has always been the worst dust offender in my small garage shop and I'd been thinking for years about how to fix it. The saw is mounted in the middle of the shop on a large workbench, so building an enormous wood enclosure around it, even a removable one, was never practical. It occurred to me to build something like a foldable cloth canopy, and luckily I saw this before trying that myself. They include plenty of hardware for all kinds of mounts, although I'd be wary of Dr. Seuss-style daisy-chains of brackets and bolts. Mounting turned out to be easy for me, as I could just fasten the main supports directly with two bolts in the bench top: Done. The instructions say there's really no wrong way to mount it and they're right. The improvement was immediate. Even with no vacuum attached, this thing turned the saw into the most dust-free tool in the shop, at least for the larger particles. The canopy is collapsible from behind, which works out perfectly for getting it out of the way of a router station when I need it. My only complaint, and the only reason I didn't give 5 stars, is with the design of the chute leading to the 4" inch fitting, which is more elongated than what's shown on the product page. Without intervention, my modest 750 CFM dust collector sucks the excess fabric into the fitting and effectively seals it, even when I decrease the suction. I have to stuff a 12-inch length of 4" PVC into the throat to keep it open. At this price point a rigid collar sewn into the throat would have been nice. As others have said, even when the air flow is unobstructed, wood chips accumulate inside the canopy, but that's OK. It's no problem to shake the bigger stuff down the chute later. The main point of dust collection is to keep the fine particles out of your lungs and the rest at least trapped in one place, and this product succeeds, with only minor intervention. All in all, highly recommended.

Works like a champ
Installation was very quick and easy. So far, all I did was install this on my Dewalt sliding miter saw in the shop. Have not tried to use it outside on a job site. However, I am impressed with how much sawdust it has captured and funneled down to a box below. I also haven't hooked up the exit hole to a vacuum to see how efficient that would be. It has done what I wanted it to and have made hundreds of cuts. I would say it has captured at least 90% of the sawdust. The rest just comes naturally out the front. Really hard to get it all, but I'm happy with 90%. It's that much less cleanup I have to do. I still think it's overpriced for a little metal and nylon cloth, but hey, I bought it and I would recommend it to others. I would think the real beauty would be at a job site where you could drop all your sawdust down into a 5 gallon bucket and just dump that on a daily basis instead of all the sweeping or vacuuming that normally has to happen at the end of a long day.

Fantastic dust shroud! Well-designed and built (in USA).
I had to do some "rigging" to mount the stanchions, but that's just to be expected. All of our miter saws have different base plates, some are on stands, mine's on a folding, rolling cart stand, etc. It didn't take much thought or work to get it attached, properly aligned and "pitched" (like a mini tent) over my saw. I have invested considerable expense and energy creating a fairly unique wood dust collection beam/network. I have put this item off, as a CRITICAL component, far longer than I should have. Particularly since I love woodwork and furniture building, but am very allergic to most tree species, esp. pine, oak, cedar, redwood....you know, everything we make fine dust out of, all the time. Brutal reality that requires a lot more than Shop Vac "dust collection." We all know miter saws make a TON of dust, much of which never even makes it into the built-in vac hose attachment. This is the much better option. And is very well built, in WA State, U.S.A. I know there are $90 knockoffs out there but, if you're like me and want to support well-made domestic products (not just junk that happens to be made here, but quality USA-made products), then do what I did and bite the bullet and buy the one you know you should and will be much happier with, in the end. I am!

Airflow Restriction Issue
The concept behind the Solution 5000 is innovative and practical in theory, particularly for applications involving dust collection and airflow management. The overall frame and support structure appear stable and adequately designed for general use. However, during actual operation, a significant flaw becomes apparent when the unit is connected to a high-suction vacuum system. The issue is not necessarily with the frame itself, but rather with the material used within the airflow pathway. Because the material lacks sufficient rigidity, the strong suction generated by the vacuum causes the material to collapse inward on itself, similar to how cloth or fabric reacts under heavy suction pressure. Once this occurs, the airflow becomes heavily restricted or completely blocked. As a result, the vacuum can no longer maintain proper airflow circulation, which negatively impacts overall performance and efficiency. Instead of allowing continuous unrestricted air movement, the material effectively seals itself shut under load conditions. While the concept itself has potential and the structure is reasonably stable, the design would require a more rigid or reinforced material capable of maintaining its shape under high vacuum pressure in order to function reliably as intended.

For a Much Less Dusty Shop
The only thing in my shop dustier than my miter was the router, when being used free-hand. I have top notch sanders with dust collectors and a sanding station with top, back and sides [anything without them is working at 20% efficiency]. The jointer, planer, routing table, band saws and other things have fair dust collection, but the miter, an often used tool, was a pain to collect dust from. An old cover from a projection television worked, but was bulky. This solved that problem, collects dust well, is light and still allows me to use the collector. A couple weeks in use and the inch of dust behind the saw has shown no signs of trying to return. I did have to play to get it installed to my satisfaction, but designing something like this for every miter and stand out there would be just short of impossible. The only design problem I saw was, the dust collector would pull some of the hood into the exhaust port, plugging it. I solved that problem with a piece of scrap 3/8 plywood about 5-1/2" wide and about 20" long. I cut a hole the same size as the port in the center, then hot glued around the port. I tried to keep the glue off the hood glue off the hood material and on the port, in case the material might melt, but which did not turn out to be a problem. Of course, you could also use silicon caulk. Installed and operating, the hood works great. Now I just need to add lights and a switch.

Reduces mess by a LOT, but often sucks itself closed at the bottom
This tamps down the dust from my miter saw really well, but the curtain next to the output often sucks in on itself.

Great Product
This is a great product! It is easy to set up and works perfectly. It’s a pity I could not afford the version with lights but I will solve that another way, it is a bit dark inside the hood at times. I would recommend this to anyone with a mitre saw, now I work in a clean environment and I can see cuts even when doing bulk cutting!

Works Great
Quick and easy assembly, I’ve only used it for a couple of cuts , but it seems to catch most of the saw dust,

It works very well
The tent is best money I spent ...it keeps dust in one area ...and connected to a vacuum it keeps clean... especially MDF
