Great read
I bought 2 for a 6th grade boy I tutor. He has a beginning interest in history. He's been 'eating' these books up! These are well written, but not complex to turn a young reader off. There are many alternative resources to listed to dive into if a particular person or event sparks interest with the reader. There is appropriate vocabulary with explanations on some- others open a chance for my student & I to have a deeper discussion to clarify meaning & connect information.

Outstanding work
This does get my kids reading. I think the age for this book is about 10 and up, based on my family's experiences. Like all the books in this series, this one could use a quick proofread and larger maps. But those two issues don't take away from the information. Did you know that most of the American POWs in the Bataan Death March were from New Mexico? And Ernie Pyle, famous reporter, was from here, too. And where do you think the Navajo Code Talkers grew up. This just happens to be a great book for New Mexico kids, as well as any other kids. Biographical information follows every battle. Truly excellent work - gets kids excited to keep reading!

Great Battler For Boys: WW2, detailed review.
Great Battler For Boys: WW2 In the Pacific is a simple, engaging read. From America’s Flying Tigers to the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Joe Giorello captures the essence of World War 2. The heroic fighting, the frightening POW camps, and the newfound technology envelops the reader in a sense of excitement and sadness, for the Allies’ win came at the cost of fifty-million lives Joe Giorello’s writing is fairly simple, but he finds ways to fit in good analogies and morals throughout his book. With relatively short chapters, this book would be good to snatch up between classes and read a chapter or two. The book is exciting, but mainly because of the fact that it is about World War Two, not because of Joe Giorello’s writing. In conclusion, Great Battles For Boys: WW2 In the Pacific is an action packed read. The stories Joe Giorello finds enraptures the reader and puts them beside the fighters of WW2. Though Joe Giorello’s writing style leaves more to be desired, his book is a fun read which I would recommend for those seeking to learn more about World War 2. - N.H.

Short History Snippits
Our son is into war history and this was purchased as a gift. The chapters are short and provide lessons into different aspects of battles. He LOVES it. He is a walking encyclopedia of military history already so this was right up his alley.

Best kids book series!!!
My son looks forward to reading these books. He gets really excited about each chapter. The layout of the information is perfect. The chapters each cover one battle and then have a section on who fought, which covers the story of on soldier. The books are absolutely fabulous! My son looks forward to reading them. He also enjoys going to the battlefields and showing off his knowledge. Thanks Mr.Giorello. I hope you write a book on the War of 1812 and the French and Indian War, I would definitely be a buyer.
