We have used these locks and have had no problems. Setting the code up was not difficult and have not had any issues with checked bags travelling internationally (one trip recently). We have used them with cables when we leave B&B rooms, securing luggage to something stationary. We've also found that useful in trains when we leave a sleeper bedroom, which can't be locked from outside. Nothing is foolproof, but they at least serve to make theft more difficult.
