Pete the Cat and the Cool Cat Boogie

We love Pete in our house, and this book was cute and catchy just like the rest! Totally groovy and cooooooool.

Pete the Cat is a favorite in our house and at our school (I'm an elementary librarian). This latest iteration in Pete's life focuses on his love of feelin' the groove. When he asks his friends to show him their various dance moves, it doesn't always end up like Pete anticipates. Cool Cat Boogie is a lot of fun because it showcases some different dance moves and even an "original" dance at the end. Some Pete the Cat books are awkward to read aloud because the words don't flow smoothly--the cadence is off--but this one was fun to read. A hit!

Having only owned this book for about a month, it is already well loved by my children (ages 2 and 5). Each time we read, they insist on doing the cool cat boogie dance together. The book itself has a really cute message for children which is for them to be themselves, and to not worry if they're not doing things right. A high quality and well made book, which was a surprise as this was our first Pete the Cat book; it looks like we'll be buying more from the series!

My 3.5 year old daughter is a major Pete the Cat fan and this latest edition did not disappoint! The illustrations, of course, are as vivid and charming as usual. Also, I like how encouraging the story lines are in Pete the Cat stories, and this one also promotes self-esteem and accepting one's individuality. We need more Pete the Cat in our lives!

The illustrations are colorful and detailed, making them very appealing to the age group for which the book was intended. The step-by-step dance instructions inside the back cover add a continued connection to the story and encourage movement. The message about being yourself is one that children cannot be exposed to as often as possible. The repetitive text is something kids enjoy, encouraging verbal interaction during the story. The slight flaw, for me, is that the rhyme doesn't flow as smoothly as I would like. It's not the rhyming words themselves. There are times you need to alter the cadence slightly on particular lines when reading to make the rhyme work.

Fun dance moves

Another great Pete the Cat book! We got it as a present but read it a few times before wrapping it :). My 4 year old loved it...pictures are vibrant, story flows well, and even includes a little dance at the end that we had fun with. I liked the theme, which was about finding your own style instead of trying to be like everyone else.

This book is very colorful and attractive to the kids eyes. Easy read for first graders.

My daughter LOVES this series of books. Suited well for 3-6yr olds, and it's a great series. Amusing, family stories with simple words kids can sound out while learning to read.

This is a great version of Pete the Cat! Kids love him!
