Very good simulation
Its not a particularly interesting simulation, but it gets the job done. Sniffy is just a virtual mouse that never gets full that you can run the gambit of classical & operant conditioning experiments on. It can be a lot of fun when accompanied by the manual. Kinda buggy, but only when you start really messing around with it. Good for class. Makes you want a real rat in the end! Beware! (

Confusing title & description = wasted time & money
The product name AND description makes it sound like the book comes with the CD. Note to anyone who buys this: THE USED BOOKS DO NOT COME WITH THE CD!!! The book is USELESS without the CD and you will have to buy an entirely NEW BOOK to get the CD! Save yourself and hassle and just buy the new one the first time. I would never recommend this used product. Completely useless.

Works great!
I didn't realize that it was the Lite version, so I technically ordered the wrong one, but my instructor worked with me on that. It is a great textbook and the CD-ROM is pretty cool. Getting Sniffy to push the lever down through Operant Conditioning makes the user feel like an unbeatable champ!

Sniffy was Educational and Adorable
I thought it was going to be another boring project but to my surprise Sniffy was an exciting learning experience. I trained Sniffy and learned hands on about the learning and behavior processes without having to worry about feeding and cleaning up after a real rat.

Complicated
If you want to learn the in-depth concepts behind classical and operant conditioning, and you truly want to understand how it works, then this book is a good resource. If you need it for a class, it works very well for learning. However, it is a program manual with a few paragraphs of descriptions, and it is sometimes difficult to understand. If you can work it and get it, then it is wonderful. If programs confuse you, then GOOD LUCK!

Easy to use
I purchased Sniffy for one of my undergraduate psychology classes. It arrived promptly, was packaged securely and therefore undamaged and allowed me to complete my assignments for class without any problems. The software was relatively easy to use and the book provided good instructions. I would definitely recommend this for anyone studying psychology who does not have accesses to an actual laboratory setting.

DOES NOT HAVE CD-ROM
Beware! It says this book comes with a CD ROM. It does not. Now I am behind on all my assignments. The purchase is entitled, "Sniffy the Virtual Rat Lite, Version 3.0 (with CD-ROM)" Why say CD-ROM without actually checking if there is a CD ROM in the item. Weird.

Actual rats are incredibly smart and trying to teach Sniffy anything was infuriating
This was a required purchase for one of my psychology classes, due to the university moving away from real rats. And I have to say... Sniffy is NOT a good substitute. Real rats are blindingly intelligent and Sniffy was simply awful to deal with. I understand why the university wanted to follow the replacement principle of animal ethics but I think most of the class ended up just clicking the buttons we were told to in order to generate a graph, and when the parts came up where we were supposed to shape Sniffy’s behaviour, we all gave up and skipped those questions. It’s been literal years since I had to use this program but I can still clearly remember how awful Sniffy was. Now I’m working with real rats and the contrast is night and day. Hell, shaping mouse behaviour is easier.

Crappy Sale
The book was over a day late, and the title states that the book came with a CD ROM, but it actually didn't. needless to say I am not very happy, normally I have pretty good chances with amazon and its users, however this time it was garbage.
