A Must-Have for Kindergarten Prep – Engaging & Effective!
As a parent, finding educational tools that actually work and keep kids engaged is a win. The Highlights Kindergarten Big Fun Workbook is definitely one of those wins for us. It's been fantastic for getting my daughter ready for kindergarten, and honestly, it's more than just a workbook – it's a whole activity book! What makes this stand out is the sheer variety. It's not just endless drills. We found everything from classic Hidden Pictures (a huge favorite!) and mazes to clever matching games and "That's Silly" scenes. This mix kept my [child's name/my little one] genuinely interested, often asking to do "just one more page." It really caters to different learning styles, which is key for this age. From a learning perspective, it covers all the bases:Language Arts: Think alphabet practice, early sight words, and handwriting that really helped with fine motor skills.Math: Counting, patterns, shapes, comparing numbers – all presented in a fun, accessible way.Beyond: It even touches on colors, opposites, and sequencing. It's clear Highlights designed this with both teachers and kids in mind. The colorful pages and silly poems make learning feel like play, not a chore. Plus, the tips for parents are super helpful, and the Certificate of Achievement at the end is a nice touch for celebrating their efforts. We've used it for prep during the summer before school starts, and it's been incredibly effective. For the amount of quality content packed into 256 pages, it's excellent value. If you're looking for a comprehensive, engaging, and genuinely fun way to boost kindergarten readiness, this is it. Highly recommend!

Engaging and colorful workbook that keeps kids interested
This workbook has been fantastic for keeping my child engaged while building early school skills. The pages are bright, colorful, and full of fun illustrations that make learning feel like play. I like how it mixes different activities—reading, writing, math, puzzles—so it doesn’t feel repetitive. The paper quality is nice too, holding up well to erasing and the occasional marker. It’s great for at-home practice, road trips, or even as a quiet activity during downtime. My child asks to do “just one more page,” which says a lot.

Use Crayons.
Enjoyed by my grandchild. Recommend using crayons and pencil, since the sheets in the book are newsprint quality. Markers at this are too wet and tear the pages.

Great book to help your kiddo out!
Highlights has always been great, but this book is way better than expected. Great price for how thick this thing is. My kiddo was having a hard time at first with writing and learning the sounds of letters. But this book has a great layout for not only practice writing but learning the sounds. They do it in a really fun way too. And after each letter or number they learn, there is a fun activity that still helps them with identifying the letter/number.Would highly recommend even if your kiddo isn't struggling. It just helps them keep up with their class and have fun learning.

Fun and Colorful Kindergarten Workbook for A-Z and Numbers
Very nice practice for our child this summer before starting Kindergarten. It starts with A, tracing uppercase then drawing their own A. Then tracing lowercase a, then drawing their own. Then tracing both in a sentence. There are 3 more pages of fun activities for each letter of the alphabet after tracing the letters. Then it goes into numbers. Then tracing short site words then activities with them. Basically, it builds upon what the child learned earlier in the book. I feel like it is good practice for what will be expected in workbooks or worksheets they will be given unlike how they can do things however they want with other activity books, coloring books, etc. For example, one exercise asked the child to circle all of the following items (showed pictures and word for each) that start with “a” in the picture on corresponding page. My son was putting an “x” on them when he found them but it was a good time to explain the directions wanted us to circle the picture when we found it, not out an “x”. He could put an “x” on the picture with the word below it once he found it to remind him he already found it. The teacher will be looking for the 8 circled items in class. He thought that was okay, and to me, possibly prepared him to follow the direction of what the teacher will be quickly glancing for when grading rather than his “x”s of checkmarks he wants to do. I hope that makes sense how I’m wording it. Anyway, I feel it’s a fun way to get the kids into doing a workbook of alphabet and numbers as it’s super colorful on every single page and different activities as well. It was a good deal for $10 and I recommend to others that have a child about to enter kindergarten! We don’t have Amazon Prime but we received this overnight, delivered on a Sunday!!!
