Works great under our kitchen sink.
The Ecosmart mini water heater is a great choice for those sinks that take forever to get hot water. We had our plumber install it under our kitchen sink. The water in the kitchen would take at least 1 minute just to feel warm. It was annoying and wasteful. I stumbled upon these mini heaters on Amazon and decided to give the Ecosmart a try since it had the smallest dimensions. We placed it in the cabinet under our sink right next to the garbage disposal. It fits there well, and leaves behind enough storage space for dish soap, dishwasher pods, garbage bags, etc. The Ecosmart plugs into a regular outlet, and thankfully we already had a free one under the sink. The Ecosmart is very simple to use. It has one knob on the front that controls the temperature. That's it. Unfortauntely, the knob doesn't have any markings to let you know what temperature the water will be, so there will be a little trial and error test period needed. We have ours set to just a little bit past the center line. That gives us water that's very warm, but not scalding hot, and perfect for washing dishes and hands. The front of the unit has two indicator lights; power and heating. The set-up works amazingly well. Now when we turn on the hot water we get hot water in only a couple of seconds, and once the hot water in the Ecosmart's tank starts to deplete, in about 2 minutes, the hot water from the hot water heater has reached the sink, so there are only a few seconds where the water temperature drops a bit. The Ecosmart cycles on and off as needed to keep the water temperature in the tank within your set range throughout the day.All in all... a great solution for instant hot water.

Seems to work well.
Usually takes years to know for sure but this one looks like it will last for awhile. Quick replacement install.

Solid and reliable
I love it's small size which easily fits in a cabinet, hooking it up was very simple. It's also very fast to heat the water and it plugs into a regular electric socket. I've had mine for about a year and a half with no complaints at all.

Why didn't I do this years ago?
Until the installation of this little beauty we had to wait 1-2 minutes for the water to get hot in our kitchen sink . This is due to the 30 feet or so that the water has to travel through a partially heated basement and also low water pressure. Yesterday I installed the Ecosmart mini 2.5 in the basement directly below the sink and voila - hot water in 5 seconds. If only I had installed it years ago. Just think of all the free time I would have had to do other things like write more Amazon product reviews. I digress...Installation wasn't particularity difficult except a general lack of provided instructions, which is the only reason I gave this 4 stars. I guess Ecosmart assumes that these units will be installed by actual plumbers and not homeowners like myself. Standard hot water heaters have 3/4" fittings for supply and hot water out whereas this uses 1/2" fittings. Had they been 3/4, there are flex lines that would have attached directly to the fittings and pipes. After spending a few minutes with the HD associate we decided to use PEX tubing along with push to connect couplings which connects the PEX to the copper pipe and female connectors that screw into the water heater and connects to PEX. These items, all made by Sharkbite, slide onto the pipes and lock into place. The first step was to cut off the water and then mount the unit to the wall. I then connected the female fittings to the water heater, cut the hot water supply line to the sink in two locations, cleaned up the pipe ends and pushed on the connectors. Next I measured and cut the PEX for both supply and hot out and pushed them onto the connectors. In addition to the supply, I had to make a discharge pipe which connects to the temp/pressure release valve put of 3/4 copper fittings I had laying around. Just remember to use good quality teflon tape on all the screw-on fittings to prevent leaks. Finally, I turned the water back on, allowed the tank to fill and then plugged it in and yes, hot water without the wait!

Very Easy To Install
We have a tankless gas hot water heater and it took a long time before the water got hot for the kitchen faucet. After reviewing the options, I got the 2.5 gallon model. I got this over another major brand because it occupied less surface area and the sink cabinet was tall enough (need at least 19,5 inches). It was a lot easier to install than what the other reviews would suggest.First, I saw what was under my sink for the hot water supply line. In my case, it was a 3/8 inch where there was a shutoff valve. The supply line would need a 3/8" male and the hot water coming out of the unit would also need the 3/8" male since what I disconnected was a 3/8" female nut.I took the entire unit to a local (major) hardware store to fit and this is what I got. Two 1/2" inch female to 3/8" male (90 degree) stainless steel union. The 1/2" actually measures 3/4" so don't just order without knowing for sure what you have. They make these things very confusing so that plumbers can make a lot of money. One 20 inch long 3/8" male and 3/8" male steel braided hose and one 20 inch? long 3/8" male and 3/8" female stainless steel hose. One 3/4" male PVC 1/2" female union, 1/2" PVC elbow and 3' PVC pipe for the relief valve.Used a special PTFE tape that is easier to work with and costs 3 times more than regular tape. Others use pipe dope (liquid variety). Make sure everything is tight and leak free by running water through it for a while before turning on the unit. You can also damage the unit if you turn on without water running through. I also got GFCI adapter from Amazon and a motion sensor LED puck light that attaches to the metal sink magnetically (puck LED light comes with a magnet). I thought about installing the unit in the crawlspace to also supply other lines but decided against it because I don't know anything about PEX pipes. I also did not supply the dishwasher line for the same reason. My wife loves instant hot water in the kitchen now and I do too. I hope it lasts and stays leak free.

Instant hot water!
Good product. Appears well built. Almost instant hot water. The 2.5 gallon is good for cleaning up-hands, dishes, etc. If you naturally conserve water this model may do. If not, recommend upgrading to the larger model.Easy to change temperature with a dial. I turn my down in the morning and turn it up in evening. That May not be necessary to conserve energy. It Heats quickly and stays warm for extended periods.Highly recommended for high use fixtures that are a long distance from the main hot water source.

The water can get really hot, which is great.
The shower in my house especially in winter can be luke warm at it's hottest setting, got this to give it a boost. Takes about a 3-10 min or so depending on how cold the water going in is to heat up fully but when it gets hot, it can get HOT. It's great. Sometimes the indicator light turns off when I forget to turn it off after my shower but I realize that it's just telling you that it's currently heating up the water. If the water is already crazy hot it stops and the light turns off...at least that's what I think. Would not test that and always have it on and heating, turn if off after use. Pretty good all things considered.

Good Heater
I bought the 6 gallon heater for the tack room in my barn. It was easy to install and is working well. Of course it does not have a huge capacity, but it reheats quite quickly so it works for me to fill horse buckets, do some chores and then return for more hot water. We had a 24 hour power outage and the water was still hot after 24 hours, so the tank must be very well insulated. After doing some research I opted for this rather than a hot water on demand system and I am very satisfied.

I don’t like wasting water waiting for the hot water to get to the kitchen sink.
I am saving water by getting hot water immediately in the kitchen. Also the dishwasher Gets the hot water immediately so it can do its job with hot water rather than lukewarm water. My water heater is 50 feet away and it takes almost a minute to get hot water to the kitchen
