The glass is a nice, heavy crystal with substantial heft. The design around the top is on the outside of the dish and makes it easy to grip. The word BUTTER is on the inside of the dish, which makes the top easy to clean.The design on the bottom tray is on the bottom; butter sits on a flat surface.I love that this dish is made of GLASS, TRANSPARENT (so you remember butter is in there and you can see how much), and does not have one of those stupid knife/holders that stays unhygenic. It is Beautiful AND Functional.I cut a 1/2 lb Kerry Gold Butter Block from Costco lengthwise to fit nicely in the bottom. I keep it on the counter away from heat sources at 72 degrees. I’m using unsalted butter so I may need to keep out a smaller amount at a time or use some of it to cook so it doesn’t go rancid.

Works great! We keep it right next to the stove. Thick glass and a classic design. A stick of butter stays nice & fresh at room temperature for over a week. You can't beat nice, soft spreadable butter when you want it! It's usually gone in five days.

I was looking for an affordable yet attractive item to place on our countertop. Initially, I was worried about its quality because of the low price. However, I'm pleased to say that this butter dish is quite sturdy and looks great! Reminds me of a butter dish my grandparents used to use!We use it daily, and the butter stays at the perfect level of softness. I'm really happy with this purchase!

I wanted a dish to leave on the counter. This one looks nice, is sturdy, and has a lid with edges that connect closely to the tray and helps to minimize contact of the contents with air or with those occasional flying or crawling insects that may show up in the kitchen. I have a small hand but can lift and lower the thick lid easily. The lid covers a stick of butter placed on the tray, with space margins all around and it does not get messy from bumping into the edges of the butter. I bought this one for myself but think it would be an appreciated gift.

I didn't realize my husband was particular about butter dishes until I bought one he didn't like. His requirements were that it be clear, so that you could tell how much butter was in it and had flat base so that he could cut the butter, not scoop it out like the one I'd bought. This butter dish has both those things. He was a bit disappointed that the lid was recessed into the dish but oh well. I like it because it still matches my kitchen, is nice and heavy and is the perfect size for where it needs to go. The glass is also textured so the lid is easy to lift. I'm not particular about butter dishes but I'm glad this one was able to satisfy us both.

This butter dish is perfect. I love that it is clear so that I can see how much butter is inside. I love the classic look and the thickness of the glass. I hadn’t had a butter dish in a while and I missed having soft butter to spread on waffles and bread. So I got this. This butter dish has added a little more happiness into my kitchen life!

I am a snow bird so I own two of these butter dishes, one for each home. They ares pleasing to the eye They are essay to clean, put it in the dishwasher. The butter dishes are thick so I'm guessing it could withstand a drop without chipping. Amazon asked me if it is giftable. I said no because who wants to receive a butter dish.All in all, a fine purchase. It is even better for the price.

This is a great looking butter dish! Very appealing and practical. I was becoming quite annoyed with my sons leaving out an entire pound of butter to soften all at once. They weren't even wrapping the butter back up completely and they were leaving it out to go bad or get contaminated. What a waste! This butter dish is not only attractive, but now only a quarter pound of butter will fit in it, and it is easy to put the cover on to keep the butter fresh. It's perfect! I didn't buy one sooner, until I found this nice looking one.

As advertised. Very pretty. Sturdy. Easy to clean, especially under hot water for obvious reasons. I buy the butter sticks and one fits in perfectly. Lid closes securely and doesn’t touch the butter! FYI, after purchase, I saw the exact same one at a Linen Chest.

Finally!! Just a simple butter holder made of glass. Not plastic. Not something opaque. No weird knife holding gimmick. Just a nice neutral looking vessel to humbly hold a stick of butter.
