ICONIC Protein Shakes, Vanilla Bean

I am having some surgery and the surgeon wanted me to drink some other brand prior to surgery - (Impact). Unfortunately I could NOT tolerate the flavor of that other brand - the 5th ingredient is anchovy paste. I was feeling defeated until I found Iconic protein drinks! Surgeon approved them as substitute. The Iconic drinks are VERY good - maybe a little too sweet, BUT it's tolerable. Comes in Chocolate truffle, Caffe Latte, and Vanilla bean. Very, very good flavor compared to all the others I have tried - at least 6 different brands. If you need a meal replacement or a high protein drink prior to surgery - look no further. This drink it the answer. No artificial ingredients. Super important to me. And they are shelf stable - DO refrigerate before drinking. Can be mixed with fruit or flavor drops or some ice to make it more like a milk shake. They are lactose free. Not mention the fair price. The other brand (Impact) is almost a hundred bucks per case of 12. This is about $38 per 12. I will definitely be purchasing only this brand any time I need it. These are some of the best-tasting protein shakes I’ve tried—especially on the cleaner, more natural side. I’ve tested a lot of different brands, and I would 100% buy these again. They’re creamy, filling, and actually satisfying as a meal replacement. So far, I’ve had the chocolate and coffee flavors—both delicious—and I’m already checking to see what other flavors are available. For comparison, I also like Levels protein powder, but I usually add that to yogurt or oatmeal since it wasn’t quite as filling on its own. These shakes, though, are perfect when I need something quick and nourishing.Especially after surgery.

As a diabetic, I need to keep my blood sugar from rising and dropping excessively. My dietician wants me to eat every three hours, to prevent highs from overeating and lows from not eating. That has proved almost impossible because I am a busy person, very much on the go. Often I’m tied up in activities where I simply cannot take a snack break for 5 or 6 hours. I’ve tried keeping the usual snacks with me — nuts, cheese and crackers, protein bars. Then I would still have them when I got home because there had not been an opportunity to stop and eat. After such a long period, my blood sugar would be down and I’d be feeling shaky and tired. So my dietician recommended Iconic protein drinks, something I could sip on as I went about my business. At first I avoided this because previous experience with protein drinks was not good — they tasted awful. Finally I gave in and bought two bottles of Iconic. I had a performance coming up and knew I would not be able to eat for at least five hours, so I took a bottle of Chocolate Truffle and drank it while I was setting up my equipment. The first surprise was that it was quite tasty and I didn’t have to force myself to drink it. I actually enjoyed it! The second surprise was that I could drink it as I worked, much as I might sip from a bottle of water. And the third surprise, best of all, was that I had energy throughout the performance, and when I got home, my blood sugar was in the normal range — after more than five hours of not eating solid food. Two days later, I had another performance and took my second bottle (Vanilla Bean) along. The results were the same. I then went on Amazon and ordered a case each of the two flavors. I was contacted by the Iconic Customer Service rep, who was just checking that all was well. I told him then what a great job the Iconic was doing and that I was so glad I had found it. It has solved my personal health and nutrition issues when a busy life limits my time for taking care in the more usual ways. I highly recommend this product!

When I first bought a sampler pack of these Iconic drinks, I was puzzled by all the 5 star reviews and did not care for most of the flavors. However after trying each one a few more times, i decided that the Vanilla, Turmeric-Ginger, and Coffee were not so bad after all. The low sugar content is admirable in these drinks, as my sugar levels have been high lately so I appreciate this feature more now. However, the monk fruit and Stevia that they are using still makes the Vanilla a bit too sweet. If the drinks are really cold however, I have noticed that they don't taste quite as sweet. The Vanilla drinks could also benefit from a more pronounced vanilla flavor. The flavor tends to be subtle and most of it is off-set by the sweetener anyway. The other flavors are more pronounced, especially the Coffee and the Turmeric-Ginger. I would stay away from the Coconut Matcha flavor however - it is horrible and tastes like medicine. I couldn't even finish that one, I actually threw the rest out. I hardly ever do that. So far I have purchased the Turmeric Ginger, Vanilla, and Coffee separately. I like the idea of what the company is doing and trying to create. I do believe that the flavors could be improved slightly and the sweetness level could be reduced. Overall though it is a good line of products, although on the pricier side. 3.5 stars, rounded up. P.S. Initially I was concerned that they were using tap water as the base - tap water potentially contains all manner of chemicals from chlorine and lead, to arsenic and more. The company assured me that they are using filtered water. I would still prefer that they would state this on the label, that would help.

I am having some major surgery coming up. My doctor recommended a different drink (3 a day for 5 days before surgery - and 3 a day for 2 weeks after). Only problem is the protein drink he recommended was HORRIBLE. The 5th ingredient is anchovy paste!! It was truly awful and a hundred bucks for 12 drinks! So, I asked if I could sub out the awful, super expensive drink for these Iconic drinks. He agreed! I ordered the Iconic chocolate truffle, the caffe latte and the vanilla. Do you like chocolate milk?! Who doesn't, the chocolate truffle tastes like the best chocolate milk you've ever tried! When I drink the caffe latte I pour it over ice or blend with ice and it's like a really terrific iced coffee! The vanilla bean is as delicious as it sounds. And they all SMELL good too. Honestly. All of this, without anything that is bad for you and 20 grams of protein!! In fact my doctor says he will now recommend these drinks. When you HAVE to do a meal replacement drink - you have GOT to try these first! I am soooo grateful for them - for taste and cost! Plus they are shelf stable!!! So refrigerate as you need them! I was really excited to try these because of the positive reviews and clean ingredients, but there’s a chemical-like aftertaste I can’t get past. It’s frustrating given the price and the fact that they can’t be returned. I wouldn’t recommend these if you’re sensitive to taste or artificial/chemical flavors.

Iconic drinks are a wonderful, healthy, vitamin and mineral drink, and unlike many others, it tastes good! Great as a meal substitute, in-between-meal snack, or recovery drink after a workout. The chocolate and vanilla are my favorites, and I try to always have some handy in my refrigerator. Hard to find at any grocery or health food stores in my area, so I get mine from Amazon!

I'm only 3 deep so far out of the 12, but as of right now, I'm on the fence. Pros so far: It tastes good for a high protein low calorie meal replacement drink. But I think the flavor isn't for everyone. People new to meal replacement drinks may be turned away by it's mild and slightly bitter chocolate flavor. A friend tried some of it, and She described it perfectly. It tastes like someone put ice cubes in chocolate milk, and let the cubes melt, It's a very watered down flavor. The content isn't bad, Most every thing in it is decent. No chalky protein taste! The packaging is unique! I like that it's not in a can, some drinks pick up a metallic flavor when put in a can, I like that this is in clever package, It almost reminds me a getting a cardboard container milk in my lunch as a kid! Cons The price has GOT TO COME DOWN! I understand that the company is new, so I hope that as they gain popularity, then can offer lower prices as the cost of manufacturing and distributing comes down. $3 a piece is (for me) too much. At one a day it would be $21 a week, $90 a month, and almost $1,100 a year... You're budget may be more forgiving, and that's great! but for me, I can't justify that. I haven't noticed anything different after drinking it. I don't feel anymore or less hungry, I don't feel any more or less focused. Nor do I feel any more refreshed after drinking it. So other than the added protein, I'm not sure it's really doing anything for me. Taste, I know I have taste listed in the Pros section, but it's a pro for a protein meal replacement drink. That's why it gets a win in that department, as a stand alone beverage ( I know it's not meant to be) It's a major negative factor. If it wasn't for the added protein, and vitamins in it, there is nothing (for me) that would draw me to this and make me want to drink it. It needs some help in the flavor department. I would actually be okay with them bumping up the fat a bit, and the sugar content a bit to give it a boost of flavor. At only 130 calories, and 3g of sugars, I'd be okay with a higher calorie, and more tasty meal replacement beverage. I have committed to give this a fair shot, I'm going to finish this 12 pack, and after that I will order the Vanilla flavor, So my review may change. but as of right now this is my honest opinion.
