Get it flat, let it air out a little and it will do the job quite nicely.
As other reviewers indicate the chair mat arrives rolled up in a tight cylinder. It took some effort for me to unroll it so I could put it under an area rug overnight to flatten it out. Just to make sure, I put a couple of over sized dog beds on top of the rug for added weight. In the morning I took the mat out and it was flat enough to use. Some people have noted there is a distinct smell to the mat. That is true. I've had it on the floor for about 4 days now and it's still noticeable, probably because it's in a room where the door is closed most of the time. I have no problem with two other things noted in a few reviews. First, the little nubs do their job and despite frequently rolling my office chair back and forth, the mat has stayed in place. Secondly, it's thick enough so I have had no problem with it leaving permanent indentations in the mat. I am happy with the mat and think it was a decent value price wise given the quality.

Takes time to unroll and flatten
Works as expected. Thicker plastic, doesn't appear cheap. They did arrive rolled up in a box. I first had to allow them to warm to room temperature (we live in WI, it's February) just to be able to unroll it. They are very stiff even when not cold. I had to unroll in sections and flatten under a heavy trunk. They did have quite a bit of static to them and attracted any hair nearby to them like a magnet. I would definitely vacuum the area before unboxing. Don't plan on being able to roll around on the right after delivery. After I was able to flatten them, they worked great in our children's carpeted bedrooms.

It'll Get the Job, Done.
It'll get the job done. All of that moving around, on it, with your chair will tear the material and leave little cuts - sure, call it "Wear and Tear".The pegs are a little too short for thicker carpets so the mat just may move a little, after repeated use.

you pretty much have to place flat
So, I initially bought this because it claims to be thicker than other products of similar sort. I suppose it is, but not much of a difference at all. It comes rolled up, and is obnoxious to unroll. After you unroll it, you pretty much have to place flat, heavy objects on top of it to get it to flatten out (I used some olympic weights from my home gym). Okay, so that's relatively standard with products like this. The real reason I don't like it is because after about 30 minutes of sitting on it in my chair, it already has imprinted to the wheels of my office chair and the chair does not want to roll out of the imprints. It's also trying to roll back up in the front where the "tab" is. My carpet isn't that thick, so this shouldn't really be an issue, but it is. I guess I'll keep it, and put a bamboo mat on top of it for added support and protection. If you have very thin carpeting and a very hard foundation underneath it, I guess this will work. But beware imprinting.

Rolled up but does work
This mat came rolled up like a yoga mat and it was EXTREMELY difficult to flatten it. I had to ask someone with muscle to help me. Then I put heavy items on it for a few days so that I could use it under my computer chair. It works fine now but I wish it had been easier to use straight out of the box.

Not great for dense carpet
Overall this does what it is supposed to do - keeps me from destroying my carpet. That said, I have had this down for over a month and it is still curled on the edges - even after putting weights on them for a week or two. I also get 'stuck' when rolling as the plastic is not thick enough to keep its shape on the carpet. Not overly happy with the product, but not unhappy with it either. Just a mediocre desk chair mat that doesnt work well on thicker carpets.

It does not arrive flat but rolled up in a long or tall narrow box.
It did not arrive in a flat box as offered but in a tall narrow box so the mat had to be reshaped. The price is right. I am sitting on a chair on top of the mat right now in my computer closet. I'll know in two or three years how it has faired.

Don't plan to use it right out of the box
This mat comes rolled up in a box, and seems like it must have been rolled for a long time, because it will not lay flat at first. It needs to be laid out and weighted down to make it lay flat. I let it sit this way for a couple of days before I could use it. Once done, though, it's been great.
