Ordered this for my son. It arrived fast! It was super easy to install and use. He’s been using it for several days without any hiccups. It seems to be well made. It is compatible and offers stability with our desktop. For the small price tag, it was definitely a good buy!

Easy to install and really nothing to configure. The wi-fi transceiver on my old laptop broke. So, I got this external wi-fi adapter in order to keep using the laptop. It's an older laptop, so I don't mind that this adapter works only in the 2.4 GHz frequency. It's a very good replacement and works just as fast as the built-in wi-fi adapter that broke.

Decent - but I've found better out there, at a higher price point.

Does the job as advertised. Good range as well. Been using on a starter game pc with good wireless performance.

It works perfect. No additional installations

I got this because of it's size. Most wireless adapters are so huge and I've never understood it, personally, as I assumed it was possible to make smaller antennae these days for WiFi. In any case, I needed an external adapter because my laptops internal wifi was on the fritz (more on that later). It works like a charm so far. I will update this review if I have problems, but installation was a cinch. Just installed the software, plugged in the thingy, and boom. Amazing reception and, surprisingly enough, my average download speeds have gone up by 2mbps (I used to get about 8-9mbps depending, now I get 10-11). It has better range than my older full-size adapter too. So, no issues so far.It's worth mentioning, though, that the reason I had to purchase this was because my laptop has an Atheros modem in it. I'm sure many of you out there have run afoul of these wireless adapters. For some people, they work fine for years with no issues, but then for some people they constantly drop connection, go much slower than they should, have terrible range, or basically just become such a problem you have to stop using the internal wifi. So, if any of you are curious why, I eventually found out why: Atheros wireless cards have a glitch that, for some reason, has never been fixed whereby they attempt to turn on their own signal diversity system by piggybacking onto your computer's bluetooth antenna which it thinks is another wifi receiver Needless to say, a wifi connection cannot piggyback onto a bluetooth connection, so it crashes the modem or will cause major connectivity issues. For some people, turning on their bluetooth and leaving it on will stop this, but for most, it still doesn't stop the glitch, so the only permanent solution is to literally sever the physical connection inside your computer between the bluetooth antenna and the frame which means no more bluetooth. So if you ever wondered what was up with your Atheros modem, there it is.

The adapter worked pretty well for a year, but then suddenly became unrecognizable to my desktop PC. I tried numerous troubleshooting options such as rebooting, reinstalling the software, trying different USB ports, checking that driver was up to date, etc. All failed and resulted in the same error message that the hardware is not recognized/is malfunctioning. I contacted TP-Link support as my adapter is still under warranty as of this review, but service has been horrible. After creating the warranty ticket in which I provided information and uploaded purchase information and photos of the serial number, I received an email asking for redundant information/uploads, and requesting a report on all troubleshooting efforts. I replied providing the requested information, once again uploading the requested image files. I received a response email asking for the exact same information/uploads again. Once more, I provided them in my response email. A third email was sent to me WITH THE SAME REQUESTS, IN THE SAME FORMAT, just with a different name at the bottom of the email. It is as if a chatbot or AI just keeps responding with a cookie-cutter response, in an endless loop of redundant requests. I gave up. I’ve already spent more time trying to have the warranty honored than a replacement adapter is worth. I’m going another product/brand.
