Excellent and thorough book
Excellent and thorough book, well researched and well written. Shame the index isn't better and you have to do a bit of searching for places and people.

Very in depth biography of his life and work but ...
Very in depth biography of his life and work but I was hoping for more high quality reproductions and a collective of his work. aka I would say this book is 70-80% text compared to the images of his work.

Brilliant book, brilliant author, another masterpiece by Nicola Gordon Bowe
For those of us who have long awaited a revised and updated version of Nicola Gordon Bowe's acclamed first edition, this is another milestone in the study of Harry Clarke. Wonderfully produced and published by The History Press Ireland. There are significent differences to the 1994 edition that I also have. Nicola Gordon Bowe has added a lot more valuable information on the works of the artist, his techniques, the reception of many of the pieces once they were completed, the background of the time they were created in, including works being created by other artists at the time. Much, of course, can be found in the original editions but be in no doubt, this is a wonderful book to have if you are an admirer of this brilliant artist.Extremely well written by the greatest expert on Harry Clarke, The absorbing information on his life and work in detail, the magnificent colour plates, and the many captivating photos and illustrations, guarantee a wonderful time in the company of the awesome genius that Harry Clarke was. This is one to have and treasure forever. Have loved this artist with many years and have already learned a great deal more from this revised edtion.Over the past few years we have gone from a famine to a feast of works by and on the amazing Harry Clarke, for example, the fabulous Calla edition of Edgar Allan Poe's 'Tales of Mystery and Imagination', the absolutely superb edition by Gill and Macmillan Ireland, of 'Hans Christian Andersen's Fairy Tales', and several others. One of the most important being, 'Strangest Genius: The Stained Glass of Harry Clarke' by Lucy Costigan and Michael Cullen, another magnificent milestone on the artist's work, another incredible book which is an artwork in itself, very well written, magnificently photographed, and produced by the same publishers as Nicola Gordon Bowe's updated best-selling 'Harry Clarke: The Life and Work', the highly esteemed History Press Ireland. Kudos to the publisher yet again!
