Such an amazing read!!!
I love the structure of this book. Plus because I am a subscriber to all of their podcasts it was like listening to them each chapter as different episodes. I also recommend checking out the marriage be hard conversations on youtube! Those are a great followup to the chapters in the book. I am a single 40 year old who desires to be married and I found this book and especially the relationship check-ins very helpful. I would like to revisit thus when I am fond my life partner. The thing that really resonated with me is finding a patterned that you want to grow and continually change with because honestly we all evolve continuously! Looking forward to the next new York tomes best seller !

A book I'll definitely read again
Marriage be Hard shares the lessons learned by Kevin and Melissa Fredricks during their 18 years of marriage. I just want to say Y'all Did That! I loved this book. I am not married but I am recently engaged, so this book allowed me to reflect on my behavior and pin point things I'd like to change as well as detail healthy behaviors moving forward.I enjoyed that the stories were told from both of their perspectives which gave readers a complete picture of the situation and demonstrated why communication is important. I also clearly heard their voices in the writing. Even without their names listed i could easily tell who wrote what. The authors also have clear definitions when introducing topics which I loved because we know exactly what they meant. There's no debate. Kevin and Melissa said what they said. The authors were incredibly vulnerable and gave us a deep dive in to their marriage. I knew what they wrote was personal but they used their experiences as a foundation to teach and help others navigate relationships. It was serious when it needed to be but it was still do much fun to read. I'd recommend this book to married couples, people in relationships, people interested in love or are figuring out what they want their relationships to look like. Honestly, I recommend this to everyone. Even if marriage and dating isn't on the table right now I think this book will put you in a better state of mind and prepare you for it.

I didn't finish yet but here is my first impression.
I didn't finish yet but here is my first impression. I just started reading 2 days ago, and it is funny and authentic. I skipped ahead to preview read a section on flirting. Just like life, the book gets deeper when you get further into it. Deeper in as much as the weight of topic and mind space it pulls. I feel like I could hear the authors speaking in their own voices with the personal passages. I am happy to support this couple and I have been talking the book up in my circles. I will return with a follow up. I did read a passage over zoom to some teammates and I have been spreading the word and my positive thoughts. I look forward to finishing as a couple's activity.

Can we talk?
The bottom line is this -- these conversations are import. Whether you are ultra-churchy or not at all, one of the keys to successful marriage is communication. You have to be able to TALK to one another. Kev & Liss are not trying to be your marriage gurus or experts. They're simply sharing the conversations they wish they had earlier and encouraging all of us to have these conversations with our partners and come to our own conclusions and agreements. There was alot that made me laugh and some things that landed like a gut punch. Overall, I'm glad I invested the time to give it a read.

Love this book! Audible is even better!!
I was so excited for this book to come out because the Love Hour was literally my favorite marriage podcast. I’m so glad I also purchased the audible because I’m able to hear it in Kev and Melissa’s voice which makes it so much better. My husband and I listen together and then talk about the check ins at the end of the chapters and it’s a great book for both married and none married couples to read. I love their vulnerability and sharing some of the things that happened in the beginning of their marriage. I’m only 6 years into my marriage and the advice I’ve received from them both from the Love Hour Podcast and this book has been pivotal in making sure I communicate effectively and avoid some of these problems in my own marriage. We’re not perfect and marriage be hard but having a couple like this share their experiences makes the hard times doable.

Excellent book
Kev and Melissa wrote this book with a balance of humor and vulnerability. I haven’t read a book about relationships like this before! (They got so deep, but used humor to pick me up along the way.)This book is for everyone (married, single, and ready to mingle). Thanks for sharing your story and perspective as a black couple growing up churchy!

Amazing for conversations
We used this book to spark conversations about our marriage. I wish we could have read this before we got married in our premarital counseling. Really enjoyed reading it.
