Lindsay's Guide to Posing is a "Must Own" for Photographers
I've been on Amazon.com for 18 years and this is my first book review. Yes, it was that good and yes it is important that everyone knows it. After reading Lindsay's book on Posing a second time, I wholeheartedly recommend this gem to anyone that photographs people. The book is comprehensive, well written, cleverly designed with training skills and a plethora of examples of what works, what doesn't and why. As you read, you will find yourself getting better at finding posing issues and how to correct them. Simply put, you will understand posing better and produce higher quality work because of it. I truly believe Lindsay is one of the top photography instructors out there today. Her method of teaching relates to everyday photographers and advanced pros as well. If you happen to follow her Instagram or Website, you'll notice she regularly updates her strong portfolio of images. Somehow, she still manages to produce yet more impressive work as the years pass by. An impressive accomplishment that has led to many photography awards and strong industry recognition and accolades. Buying this book is a given. It is a 'must own' and perhaps the new Bible on posing. I would highly recommend you check out Lindsay's other material and books out there. I personally have learned a tremendous amount from her via her books, seminars and videos. She is constantly travelling and teaching. Topics including lighting - both standard and high impact creative, posing for all scenarios and body types, shooting in poor conditions, processing, quick and advanced retouching techniques, business essentials and the list goes on. I am a big fan of her work, work ethic and charming personality. Her book delivers and you'll be glad you bought it!

So far, so good ...
So far, so good! I just got the book today and read Chapter 1, "Posing and How Your Camera Sees." I've been shooting photography as an enthusiast for at least five years, though I’m not formally trained. This first chapter covered so many important concepts—things I’d never explicitly thought about before—but they were presented in a way that was clear, practical, and empowering. Even from just this chapter, I can already see how my photography will improve. I’m excited to keep reading and practicing what I learn from the rest of the book.

Excellent resource
This is an excellent book on posing. There are many out there but I decided on this particular book because I followed Lindsey on Instagram and was familiar with her Photography. I figured even if it wasn’t the best writing that at least the pictures would be great. I was pleasantly surprised that the writing and posing theory is as well done as her photography. I don’t personally own another posing book to compare, but I can’t imagine another book being “better” but only maybe different. The info in the book is top notch and easy to understand. She covers posing women and men, even couples and families. Perhaps my favorite part of the book is a section at the end of each chapter called “train your eye”, which shows you a pose with numerous problems and asks you to indentify them. She then will describe the specific problems and discuss ways in which she fixed the issues, giving you a way to visualize how to fix problem poses. Overall I can’t recommend this book enough, as it’s been incredibly helpful to me in my portrait photography.

Book of Knowledge You Won't Put Down
I bought this book because I wanted to improve my model posing in 3D rendering using Daz Studio with my 3D models. Lindsay's book, Posing, exceeded my expectations. Lindsay translates years of her experience, skill and knowledge and presents it all in easy to understand concepts with photos showing you what's wrong and what is correct. She doesn't bore you with countless bragging about photo sessions and she doesn't pack her book with fluff and wind. You really get substance and I learned a lot from reading her book. She teaches you how your camera perceives a subject giving options to use focal length and distance from where you stand away from the subject. She teaches you specific posing techniques for women in general and then zeros in curvy women, boudoir, maternity and couples. I founds these parts of the book the best. She teaches you specific posing techniques for men too. She teaches you how to spot weak poses, what make them weak poses and why and shows how to strengthen the pose. Lindsay's book is one of those books that you don't put down but rather you keep reading and absorb the information. After read Lindsay's book I found myself mentally critiquing random pictures on the internet and asking myself could the photographer flattered the subject above what the pose presented in the photo? More importantly I went back looked at all my artwork or renders, the poses I used and saw many pitfalls and mistakes. Lindsay's book has given me new skills and insights that i will now apply in my own artwork and I appreciate that.

Actually, I hadn’t realized this book was in my cart until it arrived! I have been photographing for a long time and most of my models are professionals so posing never really comes up as an issue. The author, Lindsay Adler, is a photographer based in New York though I have no idea what percentage of her work nowadays is educational and what is commercial. She is without doubt an excellent teacher, as you will know if you have watched any of her YouTube videos. Her work is detailed, methodical and clear and she seems to accomplish almost all of it with just one lens. This book is exceptional with its detailed descriptions, clear advice on things to look for and exercises on training the eye. It is quite remarkable in the depth of detail and is more like an art school photography text in posing than the usual sort of book that gets passed off as teaching in this area. In fact, I know of no other book that can match it. The book covers an extensive range of genres with valuable advice, tips and approaches to capturing memorable portraits over the entire gamut of portraiture most photographers will encounter. Even experienced photographers are likely to find some useful hints between its covers. So don’t be like me and buy it by accident. It is a very valuable purchase with solid utilitarian advice and guidance in a difficult area for amateur models and every day clients. Just one word of advice: don’t get so hung up on getting every little detail right that the client becomes really uncomfortable because that will make for a very bad experience for everyone and do nothing for your reputation. Know your stuff but don’t go overboard. And I note that Lindsay Adler gives almost the same advice in the pages of her tome. Exceptional book - not great, exceptional!

Recomendo

Lindsay is a top New York fashion photographer and one of the best trainers from Creative Live on posing. Packed with information for anyone who simply wants to look good in images plus excellent “go to” poses for photographers. In addition there are suggestions for all ages and groups. Filled with images for photographers showing how poses can be improved. It’s well presented and a perfect addition to anyone who’s watched her Creative Live videos. Thoroughly recommended.

Non l'ho ancora terminato ma è un libro ricco di informazioni e metodi al pari di un libro di Roberto Valenzuela. Vale di più dei dollari che costa
