BUYER BEWARE!!!No USA power cable / No Aruba support
Was originally very excited to receive the Aruba 1960 Jl805A#ABA aggegator switch, however when unboxing the switch I found the power cord has a two pin connector which obviously was not a 120volt or 240 volt USA plug. I tried calling the support only to find out that Aruba does not provide support for products purchased through amazon, only thru authorized distributors! THEY WOULD NOT EVEN ANSWER A SIMPLE QUESTION AS TO WHERE TO BUY THE US CABLE! I tried to also ask if a standard computer power cable would work because as you can see on the unit it looks like one would plug in and work but they would not provide even this info. Even though on the unit it shows 50/60hz 100/127 volts & 200 / 240volts I do not want to take the risk of trying one and have it damage the unit.

Excellent Professional Switch
I am an IT professional and a partner of a small IT company. I got this switch to use for tests and educational purposes and I am very happy with the results. First of all, this is a big rack-mounted switch and it is capable to do a lot. If you are not familiar with the brand Aruba owned by HP and I always had great experiences with HP switches. The 1960 switch was easy to set up and manage with the associated app, cloud base management (free of cost), and from the local web browser. It easily handles traffic and all power needs. Highly Recommended!

Simple Implementation/Great Security
There are some great features that I love about this switch. The setup and install is really simple and easy, but I love the app most of all. It gives me the ability to easily track productivity and issues of my company. Being able to see how much data is going out for social media/networking, video streaming, shopping, adult or explicit content, versus things that would be work related. It also gives me the ability to see content that might be coming in that is malicious or may pose a risk to keeping my network secure. I know its cheesy, but reminds me of a sports car… sleek, smooth, but fast and powerful.

Large unit best placed in a rack mount
UPDATE: I just heard from the support folks at Aruba. Here is a copy of the response I received from them:#################Good day Ralph,Thank you for your response,I apologize to inform you that Amazon is not an authorized seller. Since they are not an authorized seller we would not be able to provide support.Kindly contact Aruba sales team/reseller/partner for purchasing devices. #########################################Sine the switch is NOT supported, this is a bad choice and I would NOT recommend purchasing it. They even refused to sell me the small part I needed for the switch!!!!!********************************************************Original Review:This is a fairly large switch and requires a good amount of space especially with all 48 ports being used and the fiber links. I would suggest a small rack mount for this to keep things tidy. While this is a POE system, keep in mind that the maximum power it can deliver is 600 watts. A lot of tilt, pan, zoom mounts use 60 watts of power. At that rate, you would only be able to install 10 units and then no further POE devices. So, ensure you manage your connections for power. One of the things that is immediately noticeable on this is that there are NO additional software charges for any of the functions. There are NO subscription fees at this point in time. Keep in mind that this can change as companies reserve the right to make changes.I prefer the Web style interface to the Cloud as the cloud still requires you to make your system available to HP where using the local interface does NOT!!!! This is a real security issue in my book.I do not like that this device is hardware assigened 192.168.1.1 as this is the normal address for a lot of routers. This will require you to connect to the device first before connecting it to a network unless you use different address. While there is a lot of functionality in the system, it is rather high priced for that. There are less expensive systems out there that may be better for your purposes. This is basically HP equipment so if you are already a HP shop, this would not be a bad way to go. There is a wide variation from list price to what people are selling these for. Just ensure you are comparing apple to apples. A 1960 can be either POE or not and tht makes a big difference in price. Also, keep in mind that there is NO place on the actual case that the real part number is printed. Instead, look for the orange pull out tab. Pull it out and you will then have the model and serial number for the unit.Overall, this is a nice unit with some limitations and some nice extra features. how it works for you will depend upon your needs. It is definitely something to look at.

My internet connection speed just doubled!!
What is there not to like. This managed switch came with everything needed. Power cord, great packaging, user manuals, and 12 gigabit ethernet ports, as well as 4 SFP+ ports. Can easily be hooked up with redundant pairs to other stackable Aruba Instant On devices, or to other branded devices as well. You can set it up via local web graphic user interface, or via the Cloud on HP Enterprise Aruba mobile app. Super simple to set-up as it did the basics all on its own. My internet speed test doubled, as I was finally able to hook up my LC fiber cable 150 feet away to my router, and everything just worked. This switch is 5 🌟, Aruba Instant On 1960 series, never will I purchase a different brand, 100% here on out is Aruba. No headaches, No hassles, just plug it in and go. Great product!
