Three compliments my first hour as a Type Four!
I want to give this book 5 stars, because I really like how Carol comes across, and I've learned so much about color as a consequence of this book. It's a fascinating read, and once I was done, I signed up for the free course and learned a lot from the videos. You can access several of them without paying a penny. I wanted to know more, including my secondary type (I'm a type 4, who is supposed to look best in vivid, saturated colors and sturdy, shaped garments with reflective surfaces). So, I paid $12 to get all the rest of the videos, which was a fair price, I think. The first day I dressed my type from head-to-toe, I got 3 compliments within 20 minutes of leaving the front door! One from a stranger and 2 from women I know. So, that was awesome! I remember my mom always dressed me in red, yellow, and navy and told me to wear classic styles, different advice than she told my sisters, so I guess she was right. :)Why 1 star off? I'm frustrated that all of her Type 4 models are either extremely preppy (think: white pants and sailor jewelry) or extremely modern (think: color-blocking an angled bobs or shaved heads). Neither of those looks suits me, although modern is close. I like bohemian styles, and while I can appreciate and agree that I do NOT look good in flowy, muted fabrics, the truth remains that I want to be identifiable to "my people", you know what I mean? If I look too preppy or too edgy, I will no longer feel comfortable sitting on paisley cushions in yurts, lol! And I'm convinced that Type 4's CAN be their own version of bohemian, but there aren't any examples of that in the videos. What I find myself doing is dressing in a lot of black or navy base layers and wearing fitted jackets and shoes or boots that have a sheen. Then, I add colored jewelry or scarves with bold prints for the vivid pop of color. I've been wearing my hair very smooth, usually up. But I'm wearing either black or navy every day, which feels weird. I don't like the looks of cardigans, jackets, or pants in primary colors or white, at least not on me. I would do chrome as an alternative to black or navy, but that isn't featured. If I reach a solution in the next 30 days, I'll change my review to 5 stars. To the women who say the colors don't complement all skin tones, I've found that you don't have to wear EVERY color in your type. At first, I thought: Neon??? Blue-based pink?? I have golden/peach undertones and golden brown hair. But as I looked more closely at the colors of the clothes and makeups in the online store, I saw that some of the Type 4 items were great for my coloring. Despite my neutral-to-warm coloring, I can still wear saturated colors, and that's what makes a 4, a 4. For instance, there are shades of red, fuchsia, and orange that look amazing on me. When I wear them, all the orange from my face disappears, and my eyes pop. However, if I wear pink eyeshadow or cool foundation, I look horrible. And neon looks awful on me.I plan on updating this at the end of my 30 days. :)It is now May, and by the end of the month, I was so glad to change up my wardrobe and add some warmer colors. I have decided that saturated colors (as opposed to grainy or faded) and firm, fitted fabrics are very important for my energy type. But I'm not going to stick to pure 4, especially the color scheme.

Understanding Yourself
While this book is about beauty and fashion it is about discovering who you really are. In finding who you really are it offers insights into what moves you forward and what holds you back. You also gain insights into those who are sharing your journey and ways to make the journey a smoother and more joyful for everyone. I loved it and look forward to checking out the Dressing Your Truth course and reading reading The Child Whisperer. A great book!

Changed my Life
After experiencing a rather challenging few months in my home and work life, I stumbled upon Carol's Dressing Your Truth program. I hesitated at spending the money upfront on her course, but figured I could purchase her book and at least see if it was helpful and go from there. I got the kindle version in my eagerness to obtain the information and devoured it. The energy profiling system that she has developed was absolutely spot on for me and all the relationships in my family that I was currently struggling with. The way she presented the material was so empowering to me. I finally had a reference point for why I behave the way that I do and why others in my family behave the way that they do. It didn't immediately change any of our challenges, but gave me an immediate paradigm shift and new sense of respect for the individuals in my life. I love how she presents each energy type with their "natural gifts". Because she words it this way, characteristics that I had always seen as weaknesses suddenly had a new light. Things that have annoyed me about myself and others I could now look upon from a higher point of view and begin to honor those things rather than resent them. I have truly appreciated that approach. This information in the book alone was worth every penny and has already in the following weeks changed my life--because I have changed my thoughts. And when we change our thinking to be more positive, respectful, honoring, and understanding, our life literally changes in miraculous ways.I know several other reviewers expressed disappointment that you have to pay extra for the online course that details each type and how they should dress. I want to say, you get an equal exchange in value for what you pay. I bought the course and it has been absolutely amazing. It was worth every penny and MORE. I have a new sense of freedom and confidence about myself that I have not felt in a long time. I've already started adding to my wardrobe with this new information from the course and feel so empowered, confident, and peaceful with who I am. I feel like I truly hit the jackpot in discovering this book and ultimately the program. Not only do I dress better and look amazing, but most importantly, I feel more love for myself and I am learning to be a better wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend to the relationships in my life. This program is not just about how to dress...that's sort of a bonus. The real depth of this program for me has been all about strengthening relationships and understanding myself and the people in my life. The person I was before reading the book and the person I am today six weeks later is a lovely happy patient upgraded version of me. People have already started commenting on the change and I have continually thanked God that I found this information. If you're on the fence about the book, just buy it! $10-20 is nothing if it can change your views on life for the better! The online course is worth every last penny as well. The whole program has changed my life.

Far too similar to her other book "It's just my nature"
I admire Carol Tuttle, and what she has pioneered with her energy typing. However, this book is a waste of money. It is nearly identical to her book Its Just My Nature, and doesn't really give you enough insight how to dress according to your energy type. You need to do her online course (at further cost) in order to really find out how 'to dress your truth'! Don't buy it.

Book started well but tends to be very repetitive, and doesn't really give you any information once you have identified your type. I think this is just a selling ploy to get people to buy the online course, I read this for free as I am Kindle Unlimited member and I think if I had paid for it I would have been very disappointed
