Toysmith TSM9523 Mystical Fire Colorant

I HAD THIS IN MY PURSE FOR NEARLY A YEAR WAITING FOR A FIRE WHEN MY NIECES AND NEPHEWS WOULD BE ABOUT TO WOW THEM. MY CHANCE CAME LAST WEEKEND! AS IT GOT DARK I CASUALLY EMPTIED THE CONTENTS IN MY POCKET(DONT DO THAT-STAINED) AND SAID HEY KIDS WATCH THIS AS I DISPERSED SOME IN A WAVING MOTION OVER THE FIRE AND THE FLAMES IMMEDIATELY STARTED DANCING IN BRILLIANT COLORS! MY ADULT SIBLINGS JAWS DROPPED AND THEY LOOKED SLIGHTLY TERRIFIED OF MY MAGIC TRICK WHICH WAS FANTASTICALLY AMUSING WHILE MY FOUR YEAR OLD NIECE PRIED MY HAND OPEN AND SAID WHAT WAS THAT. THE ADULTS SCRAMBLED TO GET SOME AND THE POOR KIDDOS HAD TO WATCH THEIR PARENTS PLAY MAKING COLORFUL FLAMES. WE ALL ENJOYED THIS PRODUCT AND ALTHOUGH I DIDN'T TRICK MY LITTLES INTO THINKING I WAS MAGIC I STILL GOT ALL THE HUGS, GIGGLES, OOS AND AWES I HAD HOPED IT WOULD BRING! STILL CHUCKLING AT MY SIBLINGS FACES! :)

I am reviewing the single packet. This item is also available in multiple packet quantities such as 12 or 24. The description here says to use one packet, but the description for the higher quantities say "for best results use three packets." The 24 pack comes out to about a dollar per packet. This one was about $4.50 when I bought it. So for "best results" you need to pay $13.50. If you do it twice, you spend what it costs for doing it eight times with the larger package. If you do it with one packet, you don't get "best results."So they are effectively telling you not to expect to get the best results with the single package. When you actually get the packet, it says on it to use 1-3 packets. It seems as if they are changing their marketing strategy after telling others that this isn't going to give you the best results by telling you that you will.In retrospect, I should have gotten the larger quantity. If you are questioning whether you want to spend over $25 for this, you have to consider whether if you like it, you would want to do it in the future seven times more, or perhaps give it as gifts to seven people. If you'd rather not spend the money, go for a smaller quantity and a lesser effect.UPDATE: I failed to mention in my original review that the product itself works quite well when three packages are used and it has a nice effect. I would recommend buying it in larger quantities if you want to buy it.

We made a big bon fire on the beach for New Years Eve and was looking forward to a spectacle of colorful fire with this stuff, but maybe it was dark and maybe I didn't read the instructions properly, but we opened the package (with great difficulty - I think we ended up having to rip it with a rock) then,sprinkled the powder onto the fire, which made the fire turn light blue for about 5 seconds. So that was a fail.In hindsight, I think we were supposed to throw the whole package and it's contents in to the fire, but it didn't seem right to us to throw plastic into a fire because that's not very nice for the environment, is it?

I didn't keep a stop watch with how long this single packet produced colored flames in the fire pit, but it was much longer than the expected 10-20 minutes. I'd say at least some color was still detectable almost an hour later. The results are fairly rapid. Once you get your fire established and going, throw the packet on and it changes the color within a matter of seconds. Greens and blues were the most pronounced colors, but a few dark purple colors crept in once in a while. I'd imagine it'd go great with Fourth of July celebrations as it creates its own visual light show. I have two more packs in my shopping cart as I write this.

This just makes the whole camping experience really great. I didn’t think camping could get more exciting, to be honest, but this makes the fire look sooo amazing! My kids absolutely loved it and we’ll definitely be buying some more again. It lasts for about 30 minutes so could maybe do with a little bit more for the price, but it is very reasonable and overall I really couldn’t complain.

I didn't know what to expect out of this, but I did have some concern when it showed up the size of a Tic-Tac box. However, it is actually pretty cool! The color lasted in the fire for quite a bit of time, and it was really pretty.

I got these Mystical Fire packets for Christmas. They are absolutely awesome and fascinating to watch. They make every fire entertaining with a brilliant display of colors. You can use as many packets as you wish, the more the better. There are different colors to choose from and they last for about an hour or so. They will enhance any wood fire, whether in or out doors. I will continue to use this product and recommend it highly.

This is a very fun item. We enjoyed the fire on Christmas day changing all different colors. It lasted longer than we expected which is always nice. S/H too much for the packet size so I'll look else where for it, but well worth it the first time.

This fire dust really did makes the flames go colourful, I wasn't expecting much but I was impressed! Lots of lovely blue, green and purple flames, and it lasts about half an hour. We've used it on coal and wood fires. It doesn't really work on embers alone. I'd buy them again.

Having used these successfully in the past in the fire pit at Halloween and on Christmas Eve, and been very happy with the stunning=ng effects of the colours, and was pleased how long one sachet kept surprising us with colour for, I have purchased another batch. I am going to use this lot to coat some foraged pine cones, (that I will use flour and water glue on to make the burning less toxic and less liable to chemical reactions and dangerous smoke) .

I have used these all year (several packs), to the amazement of many onlookers who are surprised at the changing colours of my/our camp fire. Value wise, they are expensive for what they do, but each sachet has lasted around an hour or so on the fire and for sheer fun I'll get some more for next year. The main colours I've had are deep 'electric' blue through to emerald green and an occasional deep red (different colour to natural flame colour).

Enjoyed these for something different during family evenings in the garden. Change flame colour from red to green and blue and is very pretty. We use one pack at a time sprinkled in as small amounts throughout the evening rather than adding a whole packet at a time but how you do it is up to you.

Grandchildren loved them. Adds a little extra to any fire
