Temporary, Not Portable - CAUTION w/ 5 star reviews!
I wanted something other than suction cups bc it seemed many reviews said they'd unstick overnight. Also, I wanted something I could remove during the day for natural light. Overall I'm very pleased with this product.Pros:- It's customizable for YOUR window size- Fairly easy to set up- Sticks to dots every night even though I take the window cover off every day!Cons:- It's NOT portable. Such a bummer bc I wanted to travel with it. The dots are extremely difficult to get off the window. I spent 10-15 minutes scrapping and prying... even using a butter knife... and only got 3 off. The description says the sticky dots are reusable if you wash in warm water. Ehhh... kind of? They mostly re-stick to the window but not well to the cover (which is weird). They definitely loose something if you move them. I wish there was a way to remove them easily and/or a way to buy more dots.- Be cautious with the 5 star reviews. I was sent a flyer asking to give a 5 star review in exchange for a $20 Amazon gift card. I don't like that. I think it's deceptive and wrong. I'm sure many of the reviews are genuine. It IS a good product. But just keep that in mind.Overall this is probably a better option than the suction cups if you're hoping to keep this in one place. It can come off the dots to let light in and it re-sticks well (if you don't move the dots). It's just not a great option for travel.

An absolute MUST for shift workers!
This product works exactly as expected and exactly as described.I do have some hints about how to make it adhere. The first thing I noticed is that there would not be enough little gel circles for what I needed. I decided not to use them at all and used little bits of tape instead. Not recommended. Tape can damage the paint on walls and windows and is affected by the heat. When the tape fell down, I used the little discs provided. I decided to get smart and cut them in half. The half discs did not work as well as full discs. I had to rehang two windows. The best way to apply the discs is to peel off the clear backing and fix the disc firmly to the surface, pressing against the back of the non-stick backing. Help the edge of the disc just a little to adhere to your window. The backing should come loose with a little bit of back and forth motion. This was much easier than trying to remove the disc with fingers and then remove the disc from fingers! The decision to use the little gel adhesion discs was made easier when I easily found them by doing an internet search and they aren't expensive. I will be able to replace them in the future.Measure twice and cut once! Add about an inch on each side. This will not affect the overall blackout effect. Save your scraps. You might decide to use them on either side of your window unit A/C. My windows are probably average, 29 in x 52 in. I had enough material for five windows.I would definitely purchase this product again!

Decent blackoot film/curtain
I am a person with photophobia and I need absolute darkness in my apartment or the light can be very blinding. This product works very well. It blocks 100% of the light from either the bedroom or living room window. It was easy to install and I would buy it again in a heartbeat. Sure beats aluminum foil and duct tape, which is what this replaced.

DO NOT USE AS DIRECTED!
Do your research - you MUST NOT sick these TO any double-paned window! I still recommend these shades, but NOT for use as directed. Here's the problem: they can ruin the seals on your windows - days, weeks or months later your window will start fogging up. I read about this problem on line, and I even called a window manufacturing plant near us. The defective material over heats up your window too much, and can weaken the seal, causing it to fail at a later date. NO ONE in the window industry recommends sticking these to windows. HERE'S HOW TO USE THESE: We still wanted to prevent bright sun from coming in, so we strung a piece of string a few inches from the window and bought little clothes line clamps to hang the material down a few inches away from the window, leaving an air space. Then we took the material down in the morning, and put it back up at night, so that the sunshine all day was not still being bounced back to the window. They did not function as black-out shades that way, but they did darken the room and prevent direct sun from hitting the bed in the morning, so we were very happy with the effect. Rig the material up so that there is several inches of air space between the material and your window, take the material down as soon as you wake up, and it works great. Further suggestions: ALL AIR B&B and VBRO owners with windows that are not shaded should forbid this material. Use it wisely, and you will be happy. This material should NOT be sold as a product to stick TO the window!!

It works and fantastic
This blackout curtain is really good. It Darkened my whole room, I had to leave out a window to get a little light. I can comfortably watch my project all day long without sunlight interference.
