Conversational Intelligence: How Great Leaders Build Trust and Get Extraordinary Results: 9781629561431: Business Communication Books @ desertcart.com Review: Why We Say What we Say and How to Manage That - I can’t think of any skill more important than communication to becoming a great leader or just a happy individual. Judith Glaser writes brilliantly about how our brains are triggered if we feel threatened, scared or on the other hand, we feel trust and security. She shows how we have our own world view of what’s right based on our own history and relationships. Combine that with the pressure of more responsibility, less time and you can see what happens when shortcuts are taken in communication and relationships based on bias. We can steamroll and force our worldview. We can flee or avoid, especially if we feel someone is a danger to our career or whatever we hold dear. Her explanation of how the brain works provides a great framework for understanding these motivations. But, what I found most intriguing and helpful, are her recommendations on how to elevate through questioning, understanding and other means to empathize and rebuild trust, the foundation of any great relationship. I highly recommend her book. Full disclosure: I’ve known of Judith’s work through her regular blogs on SuccessTelevision(dot)biz. I know you’ll enjoy her writing and stories, but this book also makes for a great reference if you’re training effective communication and leadership skills. And, while I first picked it up for that reason, I found it equally important for personal communication skills. Bravo, Judith, on your contribution to making us all a bit wiser and helping us to obtain one of the most important skills for improving human relationships. Review: Ground breaking...A must read!!..... - This is a brilliant book- a must read for corporate and community leaders, employees, educators and families alike.... In coining the term "Conversational intelligence" Judith Glaser sheds light on the central role of conversations-their nature and quality- in promoting healthy, thriving societies, organizations and communities. While this is a profound and fresh perspective, it is remarkably practical in its approach. We learn that conversational intelligence is teachable and learnable. That it can and does grow over time- Conversational Intelligence is an essential read... for creating the supportive, collaborative, high trust conditions necessary for societies, corporations, teams, communities and even schools, classrooms and families to thrive- to be increasingly resilient in addressing challenges and increasingly adept at discovering, pursuing and co-creating opportunities. As she had done before with her best selling books "Creating WE" and "The DNA of Leadership"- (in which we were introduced to the term "WE-centric" to refer to organizations and leadership that are human, engaging, collaborative, innovative...and ultimately wildly successful), with Conversational Intelligence, Judith Glaser raises the bar yet again. "C-IQ leverages all other kinds of individual intelligences, there is neither a more powerful skill nor a more necessary one to master" Judith Glaser

Why We Say What we Say and How to Manage That

really helpful and insightful...It show how to have effective conversation based on trust and cooperation
I am In Soo Kim, senior reporter of South Korean NO.1 business newspaper, `Maeil Business Newspaper.' Recently the Korean version of this book is published in Korea. Our South Korean people are really impressed by this book. Based on the brain theories, the authors showed why fear and threat hinder us from having effective conversation. According to this book, fear and threat close down our Trust Network in our brain, as a result, we focus on protecting ourselves during conversation and effective conversation based on trust becomes really difficult. When I talk about this book to my co-workers, all of them asked me to write an article about the book on my newspaper. It is because there are some bosses who make their subordinates feel fear during conversation in my newspaper company. My co-workers expects that if an article about that book comes out on my newspaper, our bosses will read it and realize their faults. In addition, this book presents some effective tools for effective conversation to promote trust and cooperation. First of all, the conversational dashboard is really striking. It helps us to know where we are and how we move up to the next level. I think that every people who want to have conversation based on trust and cooperation should read this book, Anyway, my co-worker wrote an article to introduce this book on my newspaper.(http://news.mk.co.kr/newsRead.php?year=2014&no=1077788), This is written in Korean language. Someday, I hope to interview the author and introduce her ideas more broadly and deeply.

Eye opening and possibly life changing
This was a very interesting book with an excellent message. I think this book could change your life forever, it will teach to be a better communicator and kick out some negative habits out of your life. Great case studies and well researched material. Few things I didn't like about this book, it was over repetitive the author seemed a little pompous, but with her experience I guess it's errand pompousism! The book could have been shorter and more organized the ideas were all over the place.

A clear, succinct book on the way our brain is wired for communicating based on fear and trust and how we can recognise these patterns and choose the right communication method for each situation. The book is well written and is based on the latest research from neuroscience, which links what is happening in our brains to what we experience in our reality. During my time reading the book, I gained many insights into my own behaviour patterns and communication patterns depending on my mental state and was able to recognise when I was in a fear state, which then gave me the space to be elevated into a trust state where a more productive conversation could take place. Thank-you Judith, your book has helped me immensely.
