Go's on smooth. A little goes a long way. I've treated my long outback trading co coat and my oilskin cowboy hat. Can stand in the pouring rain for hours and stay dry. I recommend 2 light application after the first application has been totally observed.Over the first year I usually apply 3 light applications and water runs off my like a ducks back. Funny, Amazon was asking me how this fit at the waist, the chest and the length. ??? Any way this Duck Back Protective Conditioning Waterproof dressing works excellent to recondition oil skin cloth. I have two Outback hats that I have had for several years that needed some more waterproofing. This did the trick and then some. It seem quite thick when I first applied but it soaked in well after a few weeks and now looks great and definitely repels water like crazy. It doesn't take much to get the job done. This is a great product.

This dressing worked fantastic on my coat. It sat for 10 years and it looks new.

Great stuff!!! It has made my coat pretty much waterproof again.
