Backyard Discovery Castle Grey Metal Swing Set and Outdoor Playground

We bought this swing set because we loved the modern design elements, the fact that it is metal, and the large play features. It took just about a full day with help from a friend to install this. It came delivered in a large, wooden crate, so make sure you are there when the product is delivered so that you can have them drop it as close to the build site as possible. All the parts were in the box, and each major component was in a separate bag with the part number easily identified. Per the instructions, we set out all the parts on the ground in part number order. This really did help to find the needed part. We also laid out all the bolts and screws on a table in part order. These two things turned out to be a great help. One recommendation would be to mark the small parts bags to match the corresponding step in the instructions as we found ourselves referring back to the master item list for many of the steps. The components are all very solid and went together fairly easily. There were a few times we needed to loosen a few bolts to allow other parts to mate up with their respective holes. I recommend that you lightly tighten the bolts in each step until the end of the step which will allow all the components a little space to move around a bit while mating up the parts. Then tighten them all at the end of the step in the instructions.There were a few area were we had to read the instructions several times and look very closely at the diagram to ensure that we had the parts oriented and aligned properly. We did have one metal brace we had to remove and rotate 180 degrees afterwards, but it only took about 15 minutes to fix. We really love the overall design and the large play areas on top and inside the enclosed areas. The swings are very heavy duty with beefy chains and thick seats. The stability of the set is great as well as we had at least 6 kids on it and the unit barely moved at all all. The kids really liked the tables in the enclosed area, and they actually ate their lunch in there while we were finishing up the swings install. We completed the install by hammering in all the anchors into the ground. This really firmed up the entire set and stopped nearly movement when the kids were swinging. This is a very nice set for the price, and we feel like it will last a very long time and hold up to the elements with little care. We are very happy with this and know the kids will play on it for many years to come. I highly recommend this if you are looking for a modern, metal swing set that is strong, beautiful and will provide lots of play time for your kids!

I'll try to make this as helpful as possible.This is a great quality product and nearly close to 5 stars, but few things:1. The slide is not great quality given the cost of this item. A solid plastic molded slide would be better. This one is a sheet of acrylic that is (difficulty) treaded between the two plastic rails.2. The sun screen is a bit of a joke. It's paper thin and out here in Texas it will probably be melted away by July.3. It's a pretty compact playground. While that's good if you tight on space, it does mean that those swings you are looking at are pretty darn close together and could be hard for larger kids to play with at the same time.4. That's it though, what you see is what you get otherwise. I would still recommend because it's pretty awesome but just wanted to throw out those warnings.

For the price, this is a nice playset. I've got it mostly assembled but ran into problems with the main support bar for the swings. One of the legs wouldn't fit into the main support. I had to call support. To their credit, they answered the phone on a Sunday. I spoke with a nice lady who, after I explained the problem, offered to send a new main support bar. The problem is that she told me "as quickly as possible". I asked what that meant and she said, "possibly 2 to 4 weeks." She didn't seem too confident. Later she told me, "maybe a week." So, it's been a week and I'm not very confident I'll ever see this thing. I'm calling again today as I haven't seen an update from them.One other thing to note - The kit included a large ladder-like part, possibly monkey bars. However, there is no mention of this part in the picture, description or instructions. There's no place to attach it that I can see.

This project was time consuming, started at 9 am and finished at 4 pm. Construction wasn’t hard, the directions were good and well thought out. Quality is outstanding and worth the time and money. Would recommend for someone that wants durability and loads of fun for the family.

Came on time, packaged well with no apparent damage. Easy instructions and went up in about 7 hours. However several bolts and the squares for tic tac toe were missing. There were also holes in the canopy.

Worst instructions! Pieces missing and numerous holes not lined up for assembling. I would not purchase this item again.

This is a 5 star review without a doubt only if they would extend the bar that extends out from play area so the swings were not so close together. I read about the complaints but didn’t believe the frustration people were having about how close the swings are. I have a 3yr old almost 4yr old & she loves it but if she starts to swing & gets a little sideways I’m a nervous wreck cause she’s about to hit a support bar. I’m still a happy customer but can’t help to wonder which engineer they have working for them that thought this would be a good idea. The set is very well built & sturdy other than the swings being to close to each other/support bars I’d highly recommend it. Wish they would send out a new extended bar to hang swings from to fix the problem. If that problem was fixed it would be a 5 star review all day. Assembly & instructions were great.

Took about 10 hours over two days with help from 2 friends to get it together. We had some weather to deal with the first day and some parts were attached backwards or on the wrong side. It's tough to tell until you get a few steps further and realize what happened but the instructions were actually pretty solid for something this size.Take the extra time; lay out everything with the bag labels up and group the parts together that go together. It'll save you a ton of time.Kids (3 1/5 and 19 months) absolutely love it.
