Bike U-lock - 16mm Strong and Heavy Duty Bike Lock with Mounting Bracelets + 1200mm braided Steel Flex Cable with Shackle

I bought two of these. They're compact and the 16mm thick steel is more substantial than many of the other options on Amazon. I did my research. I like that it comes with a 5' cable that is also thicker than others. Some cables are only 4' and that's not long enough unless you have a folding bike or a small bike. Basically, you want something that looks more work to saw or cut thru. The keys seem to work fine for both locks...hopefully that continues. Could only mount these U-locks on our Trek mountain bikes in one place, to the side, under the seats, attaching it to the frame and not using the seat post at all. Both our seats are not positioned high enough above the lowest setting to really make sense to use the mounting clamp on the seat post. If we did raise our seats to use it, the lock and the cable is in the way during riding...hitting a thigh and that's annoying. This is an off brand, not one of the name "brands"...I think it's possible that most thieves would try to break a lock that they know something about before tackling one they don't know anything about.

I recently had a very nice, red road bike stolen from me. I loved that bike. That bike was my baby. After that I purchased an even more beautiful, and faster bike to make myself feel a little bit better about my situation. But I want to keep my dear beloved bike safe, so I purchased this lock, an alarm system AND a thick chain. I'm not really a fan of U-locks or cables, but this one works very well and attaches to my bike.In case you're wondering, it takes me about 8 minutes to lock it all up but it's worth it because I live in Brussels where everyone is a filthy, bike stealing heathen.... I miss my red bike....

I dont know if I received a damaged product, but I cannot imagine the building tolerances on a bike lock should be this bad.Where the u-lock meets the main piece, I have huge gaps and play surrounding the holes on each side. When the lock is in there, it seemed to wiggle freely too much to possibly be safe. It would have been too easy stick something in there.I guess this is what can happen when you buy a generic chinese lock that multiple amazon brands slightly modify to sell. It seems to be a nice thick lock, but build quality will ruin the safety of thick parts. Now, I am returning to my university next week without a safe bike lock, as now I have to return this just to be able to purchase a superior lock later.

The lock didn't even last after 4 uses. Being a busy college student, I heavily rely on my bike, and value my time with my busy schedule. This bike lock has cost me lots of time. After a few hours of usage, the locking mechanism broke to where I could not undo the lock bar from the u-part (the key would not twist all the way open). I had to spend over 15 minutes trying to retrieve my bike from the bike trap I bought. If you value your time and don't want to lose your patience as you become late to your next class, don't buy this.

Shipped fast and easy to use. Seems to be pretty heavy duty!
