good information on so many things! IMO two chapters at the back of the book make the purchase worth while - BACKGROUND and ESSENTAILS. Ms Coffey knows her Scotland !

PLAGIARIZED and Thin on information
To begin with, it's not a good guidebook. The material is THIN -- some listings for major tourist areas give only 1 or 2 hotels or restaurants; other areas like Pitlochry are missing completely. It's focus seems to be on middling length hikes. LOTS of info on hikes and camping. Not much else. And worse -- entire paragraphs of the guidebook are plagiarized from other information sources, such as the ENTIRE SECTION on Culross, which was lifted word for word from Visit Scotland.

Best Scotland Travel Book!
This is one of the very best travel guides to Scotland I've ever bought! Written by the editor of Scotland Magazine, she describes points of interest so clear you feel like you are there. I always enjoying reading about places I've been in Scotland and this book really brings back a lot of good memories for me. Definitely buy it if you ever plan to go to Scotland, or if you just want to do some armchair traveling.

Great travel guide
This guide is perfect for providing basic information about attractions and accommodations. However, what sets it apart from others is the additional tips. For example, sample itineraries for varying lengths of stay and guidance on roads i.e. very narrow, etc. Tips are also provided on recommended stops outside of the standard locations.
