Play the Scene: The Ultimate Collection of Contemporary and Classic Scenes and Monologues

Bought this for my 16 year old . Very good

Disappointed. I was looking for plays that are more appropriate for young actors. Most of these scenes are definitely not age appropriate. I read encouraging reviews. Most of these plays are from 1990's and earlier. Two classic monologues not much that we can use. I'm so disappointed that there is no good collection of monologues from contemporary plays that are age appropriate and do not include Disney characters.

This review isn't for the scenebook contents. The contents within the scenebook are some of the best I've seen. The low rating is for the fact that I purchased this book new and it came worn with a coffee stain on the inside as well as some folded pages. All of the pages are worn yellow/orange from sitting around. This is not a new copy and I don't understand why it would be advertised as such if it wasn't. If I wanted used, I would have bought used and saved a couple dollars.

If you are a teacher of theatre or an actor looking for good material, get this book. It is full of great material,well organized into sections (two women, woman and man etc.)and just the right length.Best collection I own.

Purchased to help my high school students find monologues and scenes for class and competition and this book has some great options.
