It's now December and I had a very late start in winterizing my Koi pond. In any case I meant to say some positive words about this filter material as it worked GREAT, and I just removed these for the winter so this came to mind..The material seemed maybe a bit lighter in weight than I had expected, but long story short it really trapped a ton of debris and murky algae too.I also have expensive aquascape filters in my 6,000 or so gallon Koi pond, YET this filter seemed to trap more STUFF than the much more expensive aquascape filters in my waterfalls, also used some of this stuff as pre-filters where the pumps draw the water in. Long story short..for the money, I think you can't beat this stuff. In my case I folded over the filters to kind of double up the thickness...I only know this stuff worked very very well and a GREAT price compared to most of the other similar looking filters.. Give this a try I think you will like this item!, esp quality vs the price!

Very very thin material.

Buyers beware!! This product is MISREPRESENTED. This product is described as being 1" inch thick. It actually measures 5/8" of an inch at best. At 5/8" thickness, there are competitor's products for sale right now on Amazon that represent a better value (for example, Puro-Kleen Kleen Guard, which is actually at thick as it is described: 1.25" to 1.5"). The quality of this product is okay, it's just thin. I would need to double up this product to create the filtering capability of a true 1" filter. If you're looking for something that is a true 1" thick, do not purchase this product.
