I bought the stain after we installed a wood swing set in the yard. I wanted to protect it and have the set last longer than kids would be using it for. I have seen too many wood sets falling apart in friend's yard because the never took any steps to protect the wood. This stain will NOT work in one of those cheap home depot pump sprayers. Messy lesson learned. It went on just fine with a roller (just for the roof where I couldn't reach with a brush) and wide brush. After two coats, the swing set looked better than the day it was installed and in fact looked like a fancier more expensive set! It has been two years and it still looks great. It is worth the $$ as I do not have to re-apply the stain every year. We are in NJ where we had a very wet summer, and no warping or other issues with the wood. I would definitely purchase again when I want to apply another coat.

It is so hard to choose a fence stain brand. I researched for months before choosing Defy. I mixed light walnut with butternut and had good results. I hired professionals to clean with the defy cleaner and apply the stain. They used a combination of sprayer and paint brush to apply. They commented that the stain was easy to apply but you need to move quickly as the second coat needs to be applied after 20 mins. So far so good. It looks like new after humid and wet weather in the southeast. Made my pressure treated pine fence look fantastic! I love the slight shine of two coats. I’d recommend this stain to others for quality and ease of use. I plan on staining the columns in the pic with the pine color. Looking forward to a beautiful finish.

This product is amazing and the coverage is quality. However, if you’re doing a large amount of coverage, do yourself a favor and purchase the stain at Home Depot. We used this product for our fence and went through 10 gallons for one coat. Even our landscaper misjudged the amount of stain we needed with this brand. The wood will eat up all of the stain. This is not meant for a large project like our fence was. It was just too expensive in the long run. But our fence looks good.

This product revived the look of all our exterior wooden details. This was the “light walnut” stain color. Just one coat but because we stripped the wood with a power wash a week before, we had to apply a lot so that it covered. I simply love it! These are the before and after pics. We bought 2 gallons but 3/4 of one worked for all of this. Really easy to apply with a wide paint brush.Now the waiting game starts to see how long this will last.

I researched for a week and ended up using this product after many positive reviews. Wanted to share so that others can feel confident in using the product. Took a while to prepare with striping the deck and brightening it but don’t skip these steps. The prep is the most important part. I love the light walnut has a light brown/ slightly orange hue to it . I used 1 coat but if you have high traffic areas 2 coats maybe works better. The color gets a bit darker and richer with 2 coats. Buy the defy car wash brush for the floor part, it’s so worth it, goes on easily , smooth, and fast.Don’t put it on in direct sun and you won’t have any issues with it drying too fast or darker spots for going over it a few times. Love the color and product and looks like a new deck. I used 5 bottles for about 750 sq feet. ( 2 decks and staircase ). I just hope it lasts as long as they say.

As a professional coating contractor the Defy Ultra is a horrible product to work with. This is brand new select grade pressure treated decking that was meticulously prepped per the manufacture instructions and was applied on a perfect day weather-wise. It was an overcast day at about 75 degrees with no direct sunlight hitting the deck and it was still impossible to keep a "wet edge". There was over lap marks everywhere and as you can see the final product was a blotchy mess. I called the manufacturer several times but could not get anyone on the phone. I would not recommend this product to anyone and will never use it again.
