It’s nearly silent at low speeds
I put this in my Chevy Express extended cargo van. I cut a 14”x14” hole in the roof with a jigsaw, and went to installing this vent fan. First I built a square frame with 2x2s so there was something for the fan to attach to, along with the sheet metal roof. The rest of the installation went as expected. It took some time to lay the butyl tape evenly on the corrugated van roof, but once done, the rest just drops into place. The only part of the install that I had to work over my head, was screwing in the final interior trim piece. That works for me.Wiring was simple and straightforward, with no issues. I used a couple of wire nuts and tucked the wires under the plastic trim.At the lowest of the four speed settings, I cannot hear the fan operating at all. Next bump up and I can begin to hear a whirring sound, but it’s still very quiet. Even at the highest setting, it’s quieter than any of the Fantastic Fans in my “Squarestream” trailer.I will be replacing those old things with the MaxxFan vent fans soon!UPDATE:After nearly two years of use, I’m still pleased with the performance of this fan, but the metal “screw” that raises and lowers the lid has broken. I can lift the lid from the outside and place a prop under it to hold it up, but no more opening and closing from the inside. ☹️

I'm a huge Fan
I love it! This fan is quiet, sturdy, and simple to install. Huge improvement over cheap, loud, inefficient OEM fan.

Easy install. Powerful fan with many speeds to choose from.

Fit nice, works good.
Nice unit very quiet on the lower speeds, not bad on high speed for the amount of air it moves.A bit noisy on the highway. Sounds like it leaks, but it may just be the air noise throughthe plastic.

Fan cuts out
This fan only lasted 1 year before cutting out - maybe a problem with the circuit board but after one year!? Just heading out on a cross country trip with no fan. Thanks Maxxair your product sucks!

Get the one with the remote. Mount it as close as possible to the driver/the door you use most.
I love this fan, I have had it for years now and I am glad I didn't cheap out. I installed it myself on a dodge ram b1500 van. It was simple. Measure 3 times, mark your square and measure again! Drill holes at the corners. and connect the dots with a jigsaw. Be very careful to keep the jigsaw from catching and bending the sheet metal of the roof, spend extra on a good blade for the job. Butyl tape is my choice sealant. The trim bezel was easy to cut by hand with a hack saw if you are patient.Things I would do differently: I just screwed my vent to the roof, next time i would screw through the roof into a 1x2 or 2x2 wood frame as a backing support. Next time I would also spend a little more and get the remote version so that I could have a remote switch I could reach from outside or from the driver seat.I got the simple 4 speed white one. It has held up well through rain, heavy snow, and wind. On low power it seems to be very power efficient. I spoke with the company and all the models draw the same amount of power on the lowest and the highest setting. I love that I can open and use the fan when it is raining and no rain comes in.Their customer service is awesome and will actually send you repair parts... don't ask me how I know. I'm embarrassed... lol(okay fine... the BLACK wire is POSITIVE!... Don't say I didn't warn ya.)Overall I'd give the company and the product a 10/10.PS. I would love to see this product with more options such as: an integrated solar panel, light, reverse mode, sleep timer, or blue-tooth speaker.

Not air tight when closed.
Nice fan, quiet on low, and really moves the air on the higher speeds. The only thing I don’t like about it is it’s not air tight. Even when closed, the pivot slots are still open to the outside. For a summer RV that’s fine, but a 3 or 4 season RV your loosing heat. I installed it in the bathroom of a Bigfoot 8.2sb truck camper.

This fan sucks!!!!
Huge difference. Can’t believe how much more are it moves vs the stock fan. Also love the option of being able to leave the vent open without worrying about rain coming in. Keeps the camper cooler when not in use, because you can leave it open. Excellent quality and not difficult to install. Hardest part was getting the old sealant off without damaging the roof men.

Installation facile.Terrebonne, Québec
