Jataka Tatva

Jataka Tatva by Shri Mahadevji Pathak (who lived in the 19th century in Rutlam) is akin to a classical treatise on Vedic Astrology, based as it is on Parashari Astrology. Like Jaimini, Mahadevji has written in sutra form, not shlokas. Mahadevji's son Nivas Pathak has rendered a commentary on Jataka Tatva which has been translated into Hindi with Hindi commentary. The English translation that I have read is by S S Sareen (Sagar Publications). The best feature of this book is the unique planetary combinations that have been discussed for each of the 12 houses (in Prakirna Tatva). These combinations if applied well, will render the task of horoscopic interpretations easy, giving accurate results. This book is meant for those who are familiar with the Parashari system and who wish to upgrade their astrological knowledge.
