This is the best overall commercial cat food I've found so far
This food is my #1 choice for my cat who has lymphoma (gastrointestinal cancer, now on chemotherapy). No one knows what causes lymphoma, but it is commonly suspected that one powerful cause is eating foods that one is allergic to, which leads to inflammation, which after a few years leads to IBD, which after another few years leads to lymphoma. It is also commonly suspected that plant proteins (corn, rice, wheat, other grains) and other common additives to commercial pet foods (carrageenan is one) start the allergic/inflammatory cascade that culminates in lymphoma at age 10-12. Sadly my regular vet suggested prescription dry food, which was filled with corn. At the same time, my local pet food store employee suggested Weruva. Buddie ate and loved both prior to his lymphoma diagnosis. Weruva is the only cat food manufacturer that stayed in our lives after the lymphoma diagnosis. For me as cancer patient caregiver, it is grain-free, carrageenan-free, and low-carb. About 55 calories per 3 oz. can, 59% protein, 33% fat, and 9% carb. Low carb is what you want for any cancer patient -- and most elderly cats succumb to cancer or kidney disease, so that's why low carb is important. My cat loved this food before lymphoma, and still loves it now that GI upset is part of everyday life. It does not make him vomit or give him diarrhea, which is impressive when talking about gastrointestinal cancer and chemotherapy. I also like other Weruva flavors and products (especially the Truluxe Peking Ducken), but I think Buddie would rank this one as his all-time favorite. One of the things I have learned since my pet's diagnosis is that the advice to feed a cat only one food is old and discredited. Lower your risk by feeding a variety of foods and manufacturers, just like you wouldn't limit your own diet to a single dish even if someone told you it was all your body needed. This is a 100% independent review; I did not receive anything in exchange for this review. I have no relationships to the makers or marketers of this product.Post-script: Buddie lived 37 months with small-cell lymphoma, and only ever had a partial remission. 3 chemotherapy protocols. Weruva was with us the whole way. During the worst times, I sustained him with sauteed chicken breasts and sauteed round steak (human food). Frozen pre-cooked shrimp was another lifesaver for a working person gone 8-12 hours at a time. Once the chemotherapy kicked in, Buddie was able to eat high-quality commercial food. I have a new puppy and am feeding him Weruva, among other foods, since Weruva does not make a true puppy food yet.

Don’t buy this.
I had ordered this cat food twice. First time was about a month ago and it came and seemed fine. Second time I ordered was a week and a half ago and when it came it smelled awful and had a film on the top I’d never seen before in cat foods. I googled some cat food issues and from what I found I assume it either had a bacterial issue and was cooked incorrectly/incomplete. Had to throw away every single case and there’s no way to contact the company through Amazon so I had to request a refund from Amazon. Do not buy this cat food. I’ve tried so many brands for my cats and have been feeding them 100% wet for 2 years now. Please take care of your kitties and make sure the food you’re feeding them is safe.

Weruva Nine Liver Cat Food
Maggie loves this chicken and liver dinner. I do have to cut up the shreds a bit while it's in the can, using kitchen shears, otherwise she leaves the longest shreds, but that's no problem, just a minute of clipping insures that she eats the whole thing. In addition to the Weruva she gets a bit of a non-grain Fromm dry product in a cup, but there's always leftover in the cup in the morning, whereas if I clip the chicken into tiny pieces she eats it all.Since being on the Weruva she begs for her supper, and waits imperiously while I prepare it, then runs to her "table" to eat. When I open the can the food looks and smells good, which is because the chicken is human grade. I do add a bit of a special kitty nutrient to each portion, because Maggie isn't the kitten she used to be but is now a gorgeous, mature lady with a fabulous fur coat, for which I credit Weruva 'cause she wasn't eating anything so eagerly before. She's now Marilyn, when before she was Twiggy.

So-so
I wish the cats had loved this, since it's obviously organ meat and therefore pretty good for them. However, it received a mediocre reaction, as if they preferred something else but this would do in a pinch. It looks lovely, smells okay, and they did keep it down. Nevertheless, I can't see continuing to get stuff that they may or may not eat. Too much wasted.
