A Queen of Ruin: Deliciously Dark Fairytales, Book 4

tears and tears and tears
this series is at the top of my list for favorite reads of all time. it had perfect amounts of everything. Nyfain and Finley are a power couple of epic proportions; never have i cared about fated mate books but Breene spun my world upside down with their beautifully written love story. as if the love between them wasn't enough, the side characters were equally incredible. i'm just as in love with Hadriel, Hannon, Leala, Govam, Vemar, and Weston. Calia is intriguing in her own right as well, but i am desperate to have a series about Dessia and Hannon becoming true mates too. not to mention the very hilarious chemistry between Hadriel and Vemar.i adored every POV of this series. there was an extra special something about seeing Nyfain and Finley through the eyes of the others that further solidified just how intimate and in love they were with one other. each act of public affection and exhibition enhanced their spice and chemistry too.Finley is a heroine that far exceeds expectations and i just cannot stress how much i love her. so many female leads in books like this are just illogical and annoying one way or the other. either they're so docile and plagued by trivial matters it does your head in, or the author makes them all but lose any sense of femininity by overcompensating and giving them all the power in a bizarre overzealous way. Finley was a blend of everything one would strive to be. there were so many moments of vulnerability, strength, humor, recklessness, stubbornness, and love that it was easy to see how a kingdom would fall at her feet. every hard fought battle just endeared me to her more: from entering the woods at the beginning for the sake of her family to the battle with Dolion where she relied on the strengths of others without sacrificing or diminishing her own. while this was a romance through and through, the plot never failed to steep drama and action and give her a spotlight where she could truly shine and show off the depth and intensity of her character.Nyfain followed in the same regard. the most powerful dragon of all faced his weaknesses, perceived or otherwise, head on and in his allowance to make room for others specialities, only reinforced just how powerful and immense he is as a king and lover. i am an absolute sucker for male leads who hate everyone in the world except for his one true love, but somehow Breene made him so much more than a fun alpha trope. the depths of his character were so arresting. i loved every interaction he had with Hadriel and Hannon especially; his fierceness underlined with a soft sort of affection as a result of his bond with Finley. with her at the center of his love and devotion, his treatment of my favorite characters never failed to fortify their standing and importance to the story and relationship while still retaining every bit of his terrifying nature.i tried to hold off on finishing this series as long as i could handle not knowing the end. while i devoured the first three books, the fourth was e v e r y t h i n g. the stress of all they needed to take on was softened by us finally having Nyfain and Finley together through it all. the spicy scenes were spectacular throughout and just gave this series an all the more satisfying edge. i am so reluctant to say goodbye to these characters, but this series will haunt me forever in the best of ways. this is the first time i've read anything by K.F. Breene but i am a die hard fan now. absolutely well done.

A nail-biting end to a fantastic series
This was another series by this author that just kept getting better and better with each book. Since this book picks straight up from where Book 3 finished off, you need to have read that one, as well as the other books in this Beauty and the Beast retelling, before picking this one up to wrap up the series. There was plenty of action, intrigue aplenty as enemies came at the main couple from every which way and all the answers to the questions keeping fans of this series up at night. The world building remained strong and, as always by this author, the secondary characters were top notch and an absolute pleasure to read. The author chucked in a few more characters' points of view in this book and while this can sometimes annoy me, I really enjoyed it here, especially the chapters from Hadriel's POV (only K.F. Breene could pull off such a great start to a book from a secondary character's perspective). He continued to be a constant source of humour in the book and I adored his character throughout the series. In A Queen of Ruin, he remained a steadfast and loyal support to Lexi and I loved him. Vemar and Weston were also firm favourites of mine. As for our main couple, there was a surprise or two thrown in but they remained a strong power couple that I couldn't get enough of. I think K.F. Breene is one of the best (if not the best) in the business for writing strong, kick-you-know-what women that are both likeable and remain true to form throughout her novels. Lexi continued to be everything I want to be when I grow up and I loved how she stayed a powerhouse of female empowerment and might right up to the end of the book: unpretentious, true to her less-than-grand origins, loyal, family-orientated and highly intelligent. As for Nyfain, he continued to be delicious, his dedication and obsession with Lexi an absolute turn-on as he respected her for who she was while still trying to get his own way and throwing spectacular tantrums along the way. It should be weird that I loved his rages, right? Okay, then.As was expected, the long overdue run-in with the demon king finally comes to ahead and while I thought there'd be a bit more involvement by and getting to know the other kingdoms, the great battle scenes more than made up for any extra details I wanted to get my greedy little hands on. I loved the explanations throughout the plot regarding Lexi's knowledge of plants and the everlass as well as the details the author adds in about the magical world in general. I thought the eventual journey to the demon kingdom and the showdown with Dolion would be extended a bit more than it was (the battle was great, but their arrival and confrontation seemed on the quicker side), but this wasn't a big deal in the long run, just a personal observation. The readers get to finally solve the mystery of Hanna and his animal and the dynamic of the wolves and the dragons coming together was also dynamite. For those chasing it, there was plenty of the steam that's been one of the features of this series. There were rough smexy times, Lexi gushing like a waterfall every time Nyfain looked her way again and even a bit of voyeurism and public hanky panky. Oh, and Nyfain's dirty talk is definitely on the heavier side for those that might need a warning - I love a good cuss so this didn't worry me. To be honest, I skipped over bits and pieces of these scenes. While the content didn't worry me in the least (a lot of my reading dives into the darker side of things), there had been quite a bit of it by the time you get to Book 4 and I'm generally far more interested in this author's excellent world building and story line so I tend to rush over the dong hugging to get back to the plot. But if you're looking to live vicariously through book characters and get down and dirty with them, this will tick a lot of boxes (excuse the pun - boom!) for you. There's rebuilding of the kingdom and its villages, near-death experiences, visits to the faery kingdom (hello, Nyfain's ex), action in droves and plenty to keep readers turning the pages. The author ended a few of the chapters with hints of what was to come which was different but I actually liked this because it helped me prepare mentally for the coming you-know-what-storm. The book definitely ended on a high note for me and while I'm sad this series has come to an end, I'll definitely be re-reading it again in the future, especially Books 3 and 4 which were absolute standouts for me.To finish, while there was action, mayhem, magic and intrigue aplenty, the story was definitely one of romance and fated mates. In the words of Nyfain to Lexi , 'There is no before you. There is no after. There is only you. Always.' Swooooon. FFS, Breene, stop ruining all other book boyfriends for me :)

Cheers to the Pearl Clutcher’s 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Pearl clutcher’s beware!!There’s a reason it’s called Deliciously Dark Fairytales. If you’re looking for a clean sweet retelling of your favorite fairy tale, this is not for you!Smut loving heathens, carry on. You will absolutely love this redo of the classic Beauty and the Beast tale. Our beauty is known as Finley and she is anything but weak and helpless. Our beast is the resident highly feared but beautifully scarred Nyfain.Breene’s twist to this tale was *chef’s kiss*. The curse itself was wicked but then it all depends what you’d consider “wicked”. I greatly enjoyed the castle staff. While they weren’t turned into household items or furniture, their use of them would make some people blush. Hadriel was my absolute favorite *cheers!* Finley’s brother Hannon was right up there with him. Now Mrs. Potts she was not, lady in waiting Lena was a badass in her own right.I greatly enjoyed this entire series. I highly suggest it if you’re not faint of heart because these books will definitely get your heart pumping and your blood flowing to all the right areas if you know what I mean. 😉

❤❤❤❤
What to say? This series is everything...frustration, laughter, sex, a lot of sex, sometimes a bit too much sex, anxiety, action, more laughter, making me ugly cry, & a bit more sex. I am so glad I was able to read all 4 books one after the other. I started & stopped the 1st book a couple of times, but I think that had more to do me than the writing. Once I got into the story, I couldn't stop. I'm a bit sad that I have to move on from this world. There were so many awesome characters that K.F Breene created, that maybe she write about their continuing adventures.

Action, adventure, love, hate, hea can all be found in this book. Brilliant!!!
Firstly may I say bravo Queen Breene, bravo 👏Secondly... I hate you lolThe series as a whole has been an emotional roller coaster, but Queen of Ruin has seen me crying from devastation and laughter, made both horny and disgusted, made feel pure love and extreme hatred and I've loved every second of it!!The characters have made me love and hate them respectively. Hadriel will forever be my favourite character, stealing the mantal from Charles (Darkness Series, highly recommended). But its not just him, in true Queen Breene form she has created characters that capture you as individuals and hold you as the group dynamic unfolds. The magical world and its kingdom are relatable some how and I only wish they were real. The series is definitely not for the feint hearted due to the general content and potential triggers due to violence but also because it is one of the naughtiest and most kinky I have read, again bravo for the imagination.I would love to hear from some of the 'side' characters; Hannon, Dessia, Calia, Weston to name a few. I'd also love to see how the other kingdoms fair going forward.Overall a 20/10 from me and I can't wait to reread the series x

Epically Brilliant!💥💘🔥🌹
All Of The Stars!🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟A Queen of Ruin (Deliciously Dark Fairytales Book #4)I absolutely LOVED this entire series. It's in a class all of its own for this type of retelling, and with a complete slant towards actual adults that aren't adverse to high levels of steam, swearing, and what ever is thrown at the characters!Bravo to this Author for being brave enough to go 'balls to the wall' in the writing of it, in trusting her readers enough to have her back and that new readers would flock to this story and series!🎉😍The finale of Nyfain & Finley's battle for Freedom, Love and ultimately Peace, is a beast of a book. We get the answers to was his Mother responsible for the curse, did she deliberately trick Finley and is she after the Crown and Kingdom and therefore will Finley need to battle her?👑 We'll finally find out what Hannon's animal is.😏 But will Nyfain ever be restored to his perfect 'pre curse self' and get his wings back?😳 This final book in the series has all of the answers, and then some. Questions are answered that I didn't even know I needed to ask!🤷🏻♀️ Surprises are around most corners and it keeps you constantly on edge waiting for the next bomb to drop! One of them literally had me sobbing!😭 I freaked my youngest out, and she's 27 😂There is more sublime world building. But the emphasis is, of course, on the core characters from all of the books, and telling the story. I loved the new dynamic between Hadriel and a new addition to Finley's inner circle.😂 Dolion isn't far from anyone's thoughts or ours throughout, despicable slimeball that he is.😡In summary, this will give you every answer you go into the book wanting, nothing it's left unanswered regarding them. So I'd carve a day or more out, sit back, relax, and enjoy your last hurrah with Finley, Nyfain, Hadriel, Leala & co as they face the final battle for true freedom & independence from the Demon King, because it's unmissable!🔥🌟 💥Debbie, 1970, UK

Outstanding!
I've thoroughly enjoyed this entire Quadrilogy.Unlike other authors, this series of books doesn't drag. Halfway through book 5, I'll just stop reading and give up. Each instalment serves a purpose and moved the story along. It was wonderful to see Haddon discover his animal and understand his purpose, as well as the other characters from the second half of series, reveal their personalities and drives.Character development is so important and I really dislike FMC, who lack intelligence and self awareness. Thankfully in this series that was not the case. The last couple of chapters were important as it showed the protagonists in a time of resolution , highlighting the difference between fighting for survival and Living.Although I've read many books by this Author,I have deeply enjoyed the level of sarcastic wit and banter in this series, (also the Dragon sex, but I'm a shameless pervert) and let's not forget the interesting choice of clothes 😂This is one of my two favourite series of all time in kindle.

Finley is a beast too!
I saw this series on a book reviewer tik tok, they said it wasn’t for then but I liked the sound of it. I thought it was a shifter romance but I could definitely see the beauty and beast story it was prevalent. Although it was annoying that the scars the mmc had are where considered a detriment to his attractiveness considering his temper was far more unappealing. Finley was an amazing character through out held her own and was hilarious (internal monologue wasn’t great folks). The spice there was plenty of it but it got very repetitive and boring I hoped for fade to black during the fast paced parts of the story. Hadriel saved this book, the number of times I huffed breath out of nose at his words and antics, definitely thought he and Venmar where going to get it on though and Hannon should have got a side story.

5 stars +♾
If I could give more than 5 stars I would! What a ride (pun intended) this series has been; I’ve laughed, cried and at one point went ‘Yes! I knew it!’ - after bawling my eyes out 😄 All the characters are so well written that even the side characters don’t feel like side characters. Love Hadriel especially (have done from the start) Weston too, but I’ve also got a thing for Govam going on 😈 This was an amazing finale and I savoured every word. Everything wrapped up nicely by the end, but was also left open enough for possible future spin-offs, which would be fantastic! Brilliant book, brilliant series - Deliciously dark and divinely delicious 🌹
