You do need to refill before the cartridge reads out of ink, but so far, it worked great! Utube was a help using them. Paid for itself in one use.

I got this refill kit for use in my HP 8600 Pro. The use of the ink kit itself was pretty straight forward and the syringes that came with the kit made it easy to transfer ink into the old cartridge. Some ink replacement kits only contain one syringe, but this JoyPrinting kit contained four -- one for each color. They also provide some hand protective gloves in the kit, which is handy as even the most careful transferer can accidently get ink on their hands. Sadly, I never got to use the ink in a printing situation as my printer failed and HP refused to provide any technical assistance since the printer had been out of warranty for over twelve years. I'm sure the ink would have worked so I'm giving it five stars as I have no reason to downgrade it in any fashion.

Refilled all 4 HP cartridges that were completely empty. Did not work. I then attempted to top off one cartridge, my blue ink cartridge and it quit working completely. Tried everything to resets, and clean head removed installed, powered off several times. No Luck. Waste of my day. All Cartridges DO NOT WORK

Awesome. Refills work and I've saved money on cartridges. I needed more ink so my nieces and nephews can keep printing their college homework assignments.

Warning = if you get the recommended update on your printer you won't be able to use these. HP printers send out required updates that dont allow you to use refills
