SmallRig is jumping in full force with a line of constant LED lights and accessories. This review is for the SmallRig RA-D55 parabolic softbox. Out of the box, it's a softbox that feels well constructed with good fabric, velcro, and metallic spines. It comes with an inner diffuser, outer diffuser, and honeycomb grid. Assembling the panels is similar to any other softbox, so not too difficult. Deploying the softbox itself isn't too hard. I usually prefer to pull the spines out in pairs but their video shows you can put it on a flat surface and just press down from the inside. This way is obviously a little bit faster and would be my recommended method for deploying the RA-D55. The release is fairly simple by pressing on the metal tabs, but there are quite a few tabs. It's not nearly as easy as the HexaPop by Glow from Adorama where you just squeeze two pairs of plastic tabs and everything releases at once. Overall, the RA-D55 feels well constructed and should last quite a while. Performance is comparable to other softboxes in this price range. I get even diffusion and light control with each of the panels and with the honeycomb grid so I know what I'm getting from it each time. It's very easy to use with any Bowens platform, be it the SmallRig 120 or any flash brackets for Bowens accessories.

so i ordered the 120cm version of this softbox for my smallrig 220b light and i knew it would be pretty big but i wasnt expecting it to be as massive as it is. the build quality and materials are very very good but that also creates the real problem with this softbox, its so massive and well built that it too heavy to be adjusted properly on the smallrig 200b light. if thinking of purchasing this exact size(47.2inch120cm) for the smallrig 220b or 220c id recommend going with the 33.5inch 85cm size should be easier to adjust once attached to the light
