Neat little instrument
We bought this as a trinket the new baby could "give" to our toddler so he would've feel put out. We love it, he loves it, but we didn't realize one of the nails was poking through the bottom and he got a small cut. It's fixed now and it's otherwise great.

You're going to have to tune it...
This did not come tuned whatsoever in any sort of way. It was awful and didn't even sound like a scale or any notes or anything but my neighbor's a musician and was able to fix it and tune it for me and now it sounds great and it's so cute!

Not great.
Cute. Some of the keys were loose, unable to be tuned, due to uneven key base. Placed felt support base to try to level out the problem. Not great.

While the instrument and product were fine. One of the turtles was missing its right ...
I ordered two. While the instrument and product were fine. One of the turtles was missing its right front flipper. It was not in the box. So it had to be packed that way. Otherwise, OK.

It's Okay.
Not very melodic, makes a better room decor than an instrument!

Granddaughter loves this.
No instructions were included for tuning or using this instrument. I hope there are instructions on line. My gypsy granddaughter and her friends are getting into music, and she loves the shape.

SEA TURTLE KALIMBA: NOT GREAT
It is not very well made. Not something that will last very long. The work is very cheap and it was really scratched up. I have had way better Kalimbas made out of Tuna Cans. I but it for my preschool class to add something fun and different to the music center. I'm sure we won't have this around for next year.

Not a scale
This product is cute and fun, but I did not understand before purchasing that it does not play a do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti-do scale. The seven "keys" are simply lower the longer they are and higher the shorter. I think it's for that reason that my son does not spend a lot of time playing with it. He is a music student who likes concrete understanding of which notes are where, which doesn't really happen here. Still, it's a well-made, fun novelty item, and hacks like me enjoy making pretty little noises on it.
