Q: Does each bag slide in and out easily without being anchored to the wall?

Yes, each of the bags slide in and out independently. Mine are not anchored to a wall. Infact, if you pull too fast/far, the bag can slide out. But that only if you are being rough with it. This unit is very sturdy. Definitely a good purchase!
