DK Eyewitness Boston (Travel Guide)

Love the DK Eyewitness travel guides and have bought many of them. In this case we bought both the DK Eyewitness Boston and Top 10 Boston books in anticipation of guests coming to visit us now that we've relocated to the Boston area. We were hoping to find information about historic homes, public gardens, and other lesser known sites in the greater Boston area. Both of these titles are great for Boston proper; but the reason I gave them only 4 stars is that they only cover the city of Boston and in the outlying areas section Cambridge, Concord and Lexington. Unfortunately nothing on Salem, the North Shore, Plymouth and other surrounding areas of interest. If you are visiting Boston and intend to stay pretty much in town then these are good guides for you. If you are on a more extended stay and want to find out about the surrounding areas you will need to supplement with another guide.

Overall, I thought the book was pretty good. It seemed to be missing a few key items though - like a map of the Freedom Trail and there was no mention of Cheers. It's a huge attraction. I am also surprised it didn't recommend the GoBoston card, which gives you discounts to the major attractions. I stumbled across it while Googling Boston.

Extraordinary ilustrations and suggested walking routes. Every time I fly to any city, I purchase DK guides. They are the best!!

Love the Eyewitness books. Easy to follow, plans for different numbers of days. So fun!

well written book, comes with its own pull out city map. easy to carry in pocket or bag

A ot of in depth information that enrich a traveler's journey. The only problem is the enclosed map at the back cover page was incorrectly attached in an upside down way. Very hard to read.

Really good guide. We are only spending a couple of days in Boston so this was just what we needed - includes useful history on the area, maps and detail on all the regions and various attractions. I like the way it is set out because you can select which type of tourist attraction you are interested in and skip any sections you are not that into - ie. adults vs kids etc.

The guidebook is full of great information with excellent clear and concise maps. The walking guides are especially useful if you are not planning to stay in Boston for too long. I have been to Boston before but wish I had this guide with me then.
