Carburetor for Briggs & Stratton 498170 799868 497586 by Swiftrans

I got my Troy-bilt self propelled lawnmower from a friend of my wife. It had been sitting unused in her garage for three years. After cranking it ran extremely rough, surging and occasionally choking out. I took the carburetor apart and noticed extreme corrosion, which is death for a small carburetor. I saw the favorable reviews on Amazon and purchased aftermarket rather than original equipment. It took about ten minutes to install. All the gaskets were included. The mower started on the first pull and ran smooth as silk. It's like having a new mower! Not bad for a less than $15 carburetor.

Good Affordable Replacement Carb! Identical to the factory carb on our customers Craftsman 6hp Briggs & Stratton 6hp. This 6hp motor has no choke- it using the primer ball set-up. The gasket & o-ring were included. The new gasket was identical but the included intake o-ring was slightly too large- The factory o-ring was in good shape so I bolted the new carb on pushed the primer ball 3x and the mower start 1st pull- Runs like a champ!

It never worked properly. It flooded, and in order to start the engine, I had to shut the gas supply line off. I only used it once for about 3 hours. It would run the engine once it started, but burned a tank of gas quickly.

I have a 20 year old Briggs and Stratton lawn mower 6.25 HP. I took a chance on this carburetor. The price was right cheaper than rebuild kit. It matched up perfectly with my old carburetor. I did nothing to it just took it out of the box and mounted it to my lawn mower. The mower started right up. We will see how long it will last?

I have to admit, when I first inspected there was no rubber seat below needle. After further examination realized needle tip is rubber and float level is perfectly level. Great product and easy to install. Unfortunately there are some other issues on mower to be addressed before can put to use but confident will work great

Installed on 6.0 Briggs to get away from pump bulb primer. Worked ok in this application, but need link to throttle to kick in choke.

Ordered it, it came when promised,installed per former knowledge, started on the first pull and has been starting on the first pull for over 2 months now. Excellent product! All pre drilled holes lined up perfectly gaskets matched perfectly ...5 stars . Couldn't ask for a better experience!

Loved it. Replaced entire carb for less than rebuild kit was offered other places. Worked first time. Be careful and make sure the carb you are replacing has the same choke setup.
