BOSS Multi Effects Switcher (MS-3)

Everything I hoped for: a quality multi effects pedal that allows me to integrate my stand alone pedals while allowing me to stack effects in (almost any order I choose). The pedal is quiet, and the built in noise gate works well. Does not seem to color my tone in any negative ways, that I can perceive anyhow . . . One drawback, which I knew about before I bought is that the external loops (external pedals) can not be reordered. You can put built in effects before and/or after the external loops, but those 3 external loops are bunched together in the effects chain. Not a problem. I got rid of some pedals after buying this because built ins took their place. I am keeping my overdrive/distortion, and probably don't need to keep my chorus, but like it so I'll use it instead, but built in chorus is great too. Thing is rugged, very well made. Editing effects on the fly is quick once I got used to the controls, and the software makes it even easier when editing via a PC. Missing the stuff I didn't want anyway: looper, amp sims, so I prefer a unit without all that stuff. I'd rather use my EHX looper pedal anyway.

I was skeptical about this before I received it. I wasn’t sure I wanted a multi effects processor as others I have owned were either noisy or difficult to use. This however, is amazing! Simple to use, simple to program and I’ve found the onboard effects to be good enough I am likely going to sell some of the pedals I was going to run through the loops on the MS-3. Even more shocking to me is I got an insanely good(took some tweaking) distortion sound out of this. I’m very happy and the seller was great too!

Very intuitive, simple to navigate.....However, I've searched for any instruction on how to copy a patch to another preset- this is valuable to have common character between a few presets in one bank, say "1" has all WITH delay and one has all WITHOUT.....you may have created fairly complex presets to have to enter all the same data twice, why not be able to copy then modify? All I see is the ability to "exchange", which is merely swapping to preset location's data. It is what it is, and for $350, gives a lot! Nice, worthy product.

A great tool that easily becomes the brain of your entire rig. This is a fantastic unit. Tons of effects, flexibility with endless options and a great utilitarian pedal/switcher. As simple or complicated as you need it to be.

I'd been looking for something like this a long time. Small footprint, great effects, loop switcher for some drive pedals, and midi control to change channels in my amp. If you are familiar with the GT series the learning curve is fast. Great product BOSS.

This is a truly great little device! The possibilities are pretty much endless. However, please keep in mind you need to spend a LOT of time getting to know how to program this pedal. Experiment with different petals in the loop section. And don’t forget to stock up on small connector cables! There’s not a lot of room back there. But overall, I am very satisfied with this!

I searched far and wide trying to find the RIGHT solution to be able to channel switch with effects for this little rig. Nothing was working and I ended up sending a couple different MIDI controllers and pedals back. None of them seemed to do I needed, and there is very little information out there about what MIDI setup will really work with this line of EVH. I even called official EVH dealers and none of them even knew where to start.Then I bucked up and paid for this Boss MS-3. Problem solved. I can now apply a channel and whatever effects, including other pedals, together and avoid the little dance of switching channels and effects loop together. You know the dance if you've used a 3-channel with effects loop.Can confirm: Boss MS-3 and EVH5150iii 50s are a perfect match. This is the pedal you want for that setup.

This switcher does everything that I hoped for. I recommend it highly.
