Turned into a spice grinder for my sous vide recipes
Reason for Purchase:I purchased this grinder to save time on my meal prep when it comes to spice grinding and mixing. Before using this grinder I had a combination of crucible bowls, and the the salt / pepper shakers that have built in grinders from the warehouse club store. These grinders only have one setting so I would only get fine and never coarse.Giftable:The manual grinder from Kitcoff arrives in a tan colored box with dark brown font and lettering. The graphics are professionally decorated so this item could be sent as a gift using another address and gift option at checkout.Contents:The grinder is packaged inside a thin long black drawstring bag. When using at home I do not have a reason to keep the bag, but if someone wanted to carry this grinder for camping or travel, then the bag could be used to hold the grinder, turner handle, and toothbrush. The toothbrush is a triple head having bristles on both left and right sides with a small row of bristles located on the top. This brush is very useful for removing chunks and cleaning the grinding gears.Function and Operating:I pull off the bottom of the canister that collects the spices or coffee that has been grinded. The large black star knob adjusts the grinding from fine to coarse. The bottom has a transparent window on both back and front to show the level of spices grinded so I know when the canister is full. This grinder has a thick and wide black rubber ring with holster slot to hold the handle when not in use.The top of the grinder pulls off which is where I would place my pepper kernels or Himalayan rock salt. The handle has a round knob that is easy to hold and spins while turning. This grinder is almost 10x faster for making that perfect spice rub to place on my meats prior to sous vide or searing!

Pleasantly surprised
I received a bag of whole bean coffee as a Christmas gift and got tired of grinding it myself in a mortar and pestle, so I picked this up in lieu of buying another crappy electric blade grinder that wouldn't last more then a few months. I was certainly not going to buy an electric burr grinder, as those can get exorbitantly expensive, so I thought to give a manual burr a try.So far, as of writing I've used it once and everything works as advertised and is easy to use, though I did have a little trouble at first adjusting the burr. It seemed to be stuck in the closed position, but giving the handle a crank until it popped out did the trick. Afterward I was able to adjust with no problem, though I do have a little trouble telling exactly where the clicks are.Cleaning is easy, and the included brush is appreciated.I was a little worried that I wouldn't be able to get the grind I wanted from it(I use an aeropress and grind for espresso when I buy a bag at the store), but was able to get what I was looking for with an acceptable level of consistency. It also wasn't really all that much work at all... Well, compared to grinding it in a mortar anyway, so that's cool. The only major complaint I have is that the included manual could be a little more robust, with maybe some disassembly/assembly diagrams for when it's time for a deep cleaning, but it seems simple enough that I can probably figure it out. This is a day 1 review, so take this with a grain of salt I guess. If anything changes I'll be sure to update my review.

works well for the price, a lot of room for improvement
Holds 1/2 cup of whole beans in the hopper, a measuring cup with a beak makes pouring the beans in easy. Grinding coarsely took about 3 minutes once loaded. Comes apart completely for cleaning. Not a very consistent grind but good enough for meThe burrs themselves are a pressed ceramic, however the interior of the rotating burr where it connects to the shaft is plastic and doesn't inspire confidence as far as strength and durability is concernedThe rotating shaft has a ton of play to it instead of a snug fit, which I think is why the grind is so inconsistent. I can wiggle the inner burr to touch the outside burr in any direction, it has nothing holding it centered. The adjustment nut is plastic with brass threads, and hollow on one side in the worst possible way. It faces directly into the falling grounds and packs completely every grind. It's the single most difficult part to clean and entirely preventable if they molded it so the hollow part faced down or was one solid piece. The collection chamber for the grounds is a frustratingly snug fit. Falling off while grinding will never be an issue, but launching half the grounds to the floor when you finally free it is a common one. A twist lock, threads, or some other mechanism than the current press fit would be much better

Grind it
So I seen this video which shows that ground up coffee is made with 10% ground up cockroaches and at that point I decided I must grind my own so I know that will not be in there. It's easy to grind up coffee beans or herbs. Once done using its easy to take apart and clean and have ready to be used again. A must have if you prefer manual that will work anywhere and anytime over electric
