Can I get a light grey color?

We only found medium grey color.

Does this work as a sound deadining material in wheel wells?

I would bet it would. I have considered doing that on my 2005 Civic SI. It is a bit rough textured when finished. It might hold a lot of mud or snow.I have a 1995 Toyota 4X that I sprayed the wheel wells with Rustoleum Truck Bed liner. I used one can per well. It came out very nice. Simpler to apply.Remember a good surface prep is the key.Hope this helps. I also agree with Roman, It would take two to three coats. I got four coats out of the Rustoleum.

This stuff is not meant to bond to rust or paint for that matter. If you do, if will not last. The area needs to be well prepared with several sandpaper/acetone cleans before laying down the liner. Ideally, this should be applied to bare metal that has been sufficiently scuffed up.
