Exactly what we needed
There are quite a lot of form factors for the idea of adding grab bars to a toilet, but this seemed the least intrusive. We have a standard size American toilet with the toilet kind of tucked away between a wall and a cabinet so there isn’t much room for the variety that stands on the floor. My only concern was how sturdy the rails would be, but they are extremely sturdy. They attach to the bowl using the same screws as attach the seat, the base of the rails sitting on the bowl under the seat mount. I actually purchased some stainless steel bolts in case the plastic type bolts that are pretty standard with American toilet seats turned out to be too flimsy seeming. I didn’t use the stainless steel bolts because the standard plastic bolts secured everything with a tight grip and no play in the attachment. We’ve found the rails very secure and helpful for accessing the toilet, without getting in the way at all. The adjustable width between the rails allowed us to customize the fit for comfortable sitting and standing up. The overall construction quality is high, and the installation took maybe ten minutes. If I needed another one, I’d buy this one again, which I guess sums things up nicely.

great help
really easy to put together and very sturdy. stays in place with no wiggle. Works great for my elderly dad who is 6’ tall and 190 pounds. Love that there are no legs to get in the way of cleaning the floor around the toilet. Not an eyesore either!

Terrific product but beware of hidden costs to replace silicone covers
The assist rails work as intended. Construction is sturdy. We purchased two of them. Buyers should be aware that the silicone covers for the metal pieces that sit on the toilet rim under the seat are flimsy and easily rip. The covers slide off the metal pieces. This caused the metal to scratch the underside of the toilet seat. When I called customer service to replace the silicone covers, they are NOT part of the lifetime guarantee. The cost for 4 replacement covers with shipping is $25. So for 2, it is 25% of the price that I paid for one assist bar unit. We have owned the assist bar units for less than a year and they started tearing 5-6 months in.

Safety first
Easy to put together and very sturdy. My mom absolutely loves that she can feel safe on toilet again. She is 101. And this made her day as after a fall had to use potty chair and hated it. She is beyond happy with this product

Dangerously Flawed Design - DO NOT BUY!
I don't normally write reviews, but I felt like it was my responsibility to warn people about this contraption. The feet that "attach" to the front of the toilet bowl don't actually attach to anything -- they just sit on the top of the bowl under the seat. I had just had hip replacement surgery and purchased this because I knew I was going to need something to help me get on and off the toilet safely while I was healing. We installed it according to directions, but thought it was strange that the front feet didn't actually attach or even hook to anything. The feet were kind of rubberized, though, so I figured that maybe when you apply weight to it, the feet would kind of "grab" onto the bowl and stay stable. So, like an idiot, I decided to test it myself. BIG MISTAKE. As soon as I applied pressure, the feet slipped off the bowl and sent me and my newly replaced hip crashing down onto the seat. It was excruciatingly painful and I was very lucky I didn't actually fall off the toilet -- if I had dislocated the new hip, I would have had to have the surgery all over again. As it was, I credit that incident with tearing a couple stitches and making the healing process longer and more uncomfortable than it should have been. I can actually compare this, in fact, because I had my second hip done six weeks later and the healing experience has been quite different without having experienced the same toilet incident. The design of this contraption is seriously, irresponsibly flawed and it should be taken off the market. The whole reason people need something like this is to lower the risk of falling while using the toilet, but this contraption almost ensures that a fall WILL happen. I can't even imagine how something this bad reached the market. The company should be sued for selling this device, especially marketing it toward people already at risk of falling. Needless to say, it went back the very next day. The only positive I can say is that I didn't have any issues with returning it and I was credited back the cost as soon as the return was processed at UPS. They were probably just happy that I didn't include a lawsuit along with the return!

I like this toilet handrail.
I just got these bars and a seat riser installed today. I was glad to get them in and, after one use, can say that they seem really sturdy, that they do not take up any floor space, and that they look nice in my bathroom. I need a hip replacement, and it is painful to get up from the toilet. Today there was no pain getting up. The higher seat helped, but the handrail steadied me and kept me balanced. It did NOT tilt or tremble; it felt strong and load-bearing. I've seen the kind that go to the floor, and thought that would make cleaning the bathroom difficult. This kind hooks on the flat space between the tank and the toilet lid. No part of it is lower than the height of the toilet. It looks good. I worried a little because in one picture, it looked dark gray to me. NO gray--just plain old white, inobtrusive and clean. Yeah, it's had only one use, so who knows what will happen later; still, I am really glad I chose this one.

Lovely and neat looking. Easy to make up and easy to remove arms if you want to. Looks a lot tidier than a free standing set and once attached to the toilet seat it is sturdy.
