Ka-Bar mini Dozier
These are dynamite little pocket knives !! I had one of the larger ones and carried it almost daily, but finally lost it. I always liked these,so I used this as an excuse to order two of these smaller versions ( one extra for when I lose one of these, too).Well, I've since found the first lost Ka-Bar, but I'm still carrying this smaller one every day. It's so small, thin and light that I can never even tell if I have it in my pocket without checking, yet it's big enough and solid enough for most any realistic use. It's also economical enough that I'm not worried about losing it or getting it dinged up through regular use, like I would be with a $150 Spyderco,Al Mar,Falkniven, etc. I think these are ideal EDC tools.BTW, the photo makes it look like these have a Tanto-like blade, but they do not.

Nice design and decent steel
Best stainless steel bladed pocket knife I have ever owned. Have carried it in my pocket ever since I bought it in 2010 (except for a brief fling with a Twitch knife). I use it almost daily yet it, amazingly, has essentially no wear. In spite of having a stainless steel blade, it has a good balance between edge holding and sharpening ease. I hate knives with a wide ricasso so I really appreciate the narrow one on this knife.

not perfect, but good for a cheap knife...
OK, I'm getting to be a bit of a knife geek, to give you an idea this is the way I look at it:Under about $30- it's a good tool... I expect quality for what it does, good functionality, but that's cheap enough that I'll deal with some fit and finish problems.$40-70- it's still a tool, but here I expect the good functionality and good fit and finishMore than that- it's hard to actually use it as a tool... if it gets damaged or lost which knives tend to do you most people are going to be annoyed and not want to spend as much on the next one. That said, this falls in the first category, and does it well.the good:- I've never had a lockback that I was satisfied with the way it locks, they usually feel a bit funny or crude and/or have some slop. I usually gravitate towards liner locks because by design they take up some slack in wear... This is the first exception that I've run across, _NICE_ action to it, solid lock and no slop in the joint- comes sharp, holds a good edge, well ground (it's hard to tell if the hollow grind is completely symmetrical, but the grind seems to be better than most of my other knives in this range- well built- _light_ this one is lighter than all my others. I don't even feel it clipped in gym shorts or sweats pockets.- Strong clipthe not perfect part:- fit an finish is not great- the scales are a little funny by the pivot, there is a casting mark on the back of it and the metal lock back mechanism doesn't line up with the blade perfectly. _NONE_ of this affects the function, if you never looked at it and just used it you wouldn't care. Function wise it's perfect. For that matter, I'd bet that 95% of people wouldn't notice any of what I'm listing.- This is usually the size I gravitate toward for something that lives in my pocket daily, perfectly unobtrusive and small enough that I haven't had comments even in a formal or professional environment, though recently I've started carrying a larger Ken Onion design that I've really gotten used to... I didn't realize this till I got this one and I'm wondering if I would have been happier with a full size one.- the strong clip. It might be too strong, I expect it to tear up my pockets and it's a bit of a hassle putting it back. Also, I like sort of the looped over design like a lot of gerbers use, so when you have it clipped all you see is the clip, and it hangs down and is less likely to catch on stuff. This has the screw at the top of the clip so the screw and part of the knife sticks out of your pocket. To me this is more important then the pivot up/pivot down debate.- thumb stud needs to be removed for proper sharpening, though the stud does work well in use, it's nicely shaped and easily removed. Looks like the stud and the clip can be moved from side to side for you lefties...- Ka-bar- olean NY on the outside, box has a labled "Made in Taiwan" and then the knife is inside a second, plane white box inside the outer box labeled "made in ROC." The etching on the blade says Taiwan, though I'm guessing it was assembled in mainland china or maybe parts made in each? Who knows. If you're thinking of something like your old school, Marine issue Ka-bar with it's nice USA cast into the base of the blade, that is not what you're getting here.

Could be better.
Likes: Lightweight, thin, secure lockback, ambi & tight pocketclip, grip texture.Dislikes: One-sided one-hand thumbstud, edge profile is dull and difficult to sharpen as sharp as the Dozier precision hunter that is much sharper out of the box than the mini is after sharpening and stroping, more difficult to deploy due to the size and strong detent that require focus, less value for your money than the Dozier precision hunter that has better performance and is still thin and lightweight.Recommendation: Buy the Kabar Dozier Precision Hunter with the thumb hole.

Perfect size for EDC, Decent Steel
I bought this knife to attach to my key ring to replace a knife with a low quality stainless steel that required incessantly frequent sharpening. When it arrived, my initial reaction was that it was just a little too big for that purpose. Well, I attached it to my key ring anyway and it has actually worked out well even with the clip attachment. The clip now serves as a convenient way to clip my knike and keys when hiking/camping. And since it is a little larger, it meets my every day carry needs. I also appreciate that it is still small enough that it does not appear to be a weapon when I occasionally use it in an office environment. I have been using it for a few months now and it holds an edge well. The construction is solid. One can open it with one hand quite easily and while it does not have an assisted opening, neither does it have the bulk or price of one. I am pleased with the design, size, performance and price.

PERFECT! PERFECT! PERFECT!
I received this knife today and it fulfills the requirement I had in mind perfectly. I had a need for a knife that would fit in my watch pocket that could be taken and used anywhere, anytime. It needed to be easy to open and close with one hand, have a blade of 2 1/4" to 2 1/2" in length and a point sharp enough to penetrate those annoying plastic package covers.I considered other knives and even bought one that was a disappointment. I should have looked to Ka-Bar first since they always do great work. I own the big brother and bigger brother to this knife and they are excellent knives. I took this one out of the box and flipped it open and closed with one hand as smooth as could be! The blade is sharp out of the box (AUS 8A Steel). The blade is close to 2 1/2 inches but it is advertised as being 2 1/4 inches most places. Bonus for me!Next time I will look at Ka-Bar first. This is the perfect small knife for the most common day to day small cutting chores like opening envelopes, shipping boxes, product packages, cutting string, etc. They even included a small keychain ring attachment that I plan to place in the lanyard hole. I will make a small lanyard and connect to the ring then I want absolutely need to use the pocket clip which is a bit tight.
