Great motor, powerful, good price
This is my 2nd motor, bought it for a spare motor on my CNC. I have approx 5300 hrs on my 1st motor, still running great. Good speed, good powerful motor.

This thing actually works, and not nearly as loud as I had expected, and runs relatively cool too!
So we bought this to replace a chinese water cooled unit that had suffered a few critical losses of coolant. The water units are great and all, but the amount of tubing needed for a large router just made PSI requirements and the pumping unreasonable, and with all that tubing, comes chances for leaking, clogs, etc, which always happen sooner or later. So as it happened, we replaced it with this air cooled job, and after making an adapter plate, started cutting. It's great! We're running the same VFD settings as our water cooled spindle, but we usually don't go over 18,000 RPM, which should keep the bearings alive a bit longer. The sound level is totally reasonable, and most of the noise is from the cutting, rather than the cooling fan. We stuck and LCD thermometer (like on fish tanks) to it and the temperature rise is really reasonable, 20-30 degrees tops.I'd recommend this thing. Make sure you know what you're doing with your VFD settings. The seller may insist there's some black magic with their particular controllers, but this is a flat out lie. Set them up as you'd set up any high frequency motor, and mind the nameplate ratings and your particular VFD parameters as set out in its user manual and you'll be winning in no time.

Nice, quiet, accurate spindle.
Have been using this to cut 1/16" aluminum. Milling is quite accurate, motor works great.

dissapointed
The media could not be loaded. I had high hopes for this spindle based on the good reviews, and it looked like a good design. I tried two of these, one purchased on ebay and another here on Amazon. Both had bad (screaming) bearings right from the start. This is especially ironic given that they advertise "high quality German made ceramic bearings", it was one of the main reasons I purchased this spindle. I suppose it's possible they had a bad batch of bearings but I gave up after the second and went a different route.

Great Spindle but there's a CATCH!
Really great spindle but one "glaring catch"... No documentation came with this spindle, and the seller will not provide a full product specification sheet... You get what they have in the description on Amazon. If you need low level specs in order to get the absolute most out of your VFD controller, then you may not want to buy this spindle... The Seller is reluctant to share even the minimums unless you buy "their" VFD controller. I actually purchased the combo that Amazon suggested mainly because of the high feedback ratings on that unit. It's really a shame - The spindle is actually very high quality and run-out is actually better than advertised... I had to take it to an electrical engineer that specializes in VFD drives ($$) and pay him manually measure the low level aspects of the spindle in order to get the details needed to properly program the controller. Now - finally - performance is perfect.... Torque is up 32% from "Auto Tune" and it's acceleration dn deceleration are much better. Dead on 24000 RPM's.

100 times Quieter than my Makita
I bought the kit to start with. I liked it so much I bought another to build another machine. Some reviews say they are loud. The unit itself is not loud it is the air that is being forced through the small fan guard. You can take a piece of cheese cloth an lay over the fan guard and it will quiet it down about 50%. Even without it you can still have a normal conversation with a normal voice.

Works great for me 2yrs plus
I’ve had this for over two years now, and love it. It gets a little warm after hours of use but works great and sure beats a router.

Good customer service
Good product. I had an issue at first but they worked with me to make it right. Very helpful, and my CNC machine is back in action!
