This item is perfect for toddlers learning their fruits! I got this for my daughter who is 2 and my son who is 1 and my daughter looooves the apple and nana! LOL the little basket is so cute and is great for playing pretend ! The fruits are sturdy but soft enough in case they are bitten kinda like bath toys :) they are awesome!

***Update: This set still looks nearly brand new nearly 6 years later! Still love this brand and my kids still play with it often. Can't recommend this line enough!I researched a ton of play food brands before I decided on Learning Resources New Sprouts. It seems like wooden play food is en vogue currently, but I was looking for something more like my Fisher Price food sets from the '80s.The New Sprouts line is fantastic. As many other reviewers have noted, the type of plastic they use is wonderful. It's soft and flexible but durable and withstands a lot of overly enthusiastic pretend chewing :). The details on the food are adorable and the scale of the foods and kitchenware are perfect for little ones. I also like that the colors are bright without being too obnoxious and are gender-neutral.I love this set. The fruit is so cute and we use these bowls all the time. We have four of these food sets now and I have no regrets.

I bought the veggie and the matching fruit baskets for an 18m and 12m old. They were a hit with each child. It is the perfect size for little hands to hold but not small enough to be a choking hazard. I was concerned about the strawberry being too small, but it's not. The plastic isn't that shiny plastic but has a kind of "grippy" texture. I wish they didn't have little holes (I tried hot glue, but it peeled off easily), but not everything can be perfect.

What a great way for my daughter to learn the names of fruits and use them in her pretend kitchen. Who doesn't love a fancy fruit salad? Great quality!

Super cute and durable toys

I have a licensed child care home and love this brand. It's durable, well made and the kids love playing with it. It costs a bit more than some of the other brands but it is so worth the price.

Another hit from Learning Resources! The watermelon bowl is absolutely adorable. Nice variety and quantity of fruit. The fruit completely fills the bowl. You can also add fruit from the other learning resources sets. We own probably 10 or more different learning resources food sets so we have cantaloupe slices, grapefruit halves, several berry varieties, etc all the that look and feel real and make great addition she to "fruit salad". The more sets you own, the more combinations you have!

I did tons'o research here on amazon to buy some starter play food for my 21 mo. old daughter who just got a play kitchen. I know there are die hard wooden food enthusiasts, and I almost went that route except 1) we have hard wood floors and 2) we have a small dog. My daughter likes to throw things and I didn't want to hear wood pieces clanging all over the floor and also didn't want to worry about her throwing hard wood pieces at the dog! So for plastic, I settled on the learning resources brand and started with this bushel of veggies. Kinda wish I would have gone with the bigger veggie sorting kit - these pieces are adorable. While I agree that they are smaller in size than the real deal - I personally am happy with that. The pieces are perfect for her little hands are totally proportionate with her play kitchen. Any bigger wouldn't make sense to me, but that's just my opinion. Quality is high - the basket is really nice hard plastic and the veggies are more rubbery, but you can see very durable, and very nice detail on each veggie. I mean the asparagus - come on - its adorable. My one and ONLY complaint is that yes, when I opened that box - whew! Super strong chemical/plastic/paint smell. I've read that Learning Resources is careful to use safe materials (bpa free etc...) So my hope is that after a little air out the smell will dissipate. Hence the 4 stars. If the smell goes away I will update to 5 stars and will very likely be order more from this company!
