Works very good and a great price
I'm only using this as a single to three phase converter, not using any of the speed control features. I originally bought a DPS converter but turns out they don't work for a lot of motors since they don't give full voltage on all three wires. The Mollom does and works great for my application. The downside is it's not plug and play. Tech support is great, I just emailed them my motor specs and they sent me the settings and it works great. The manual is lacking and so you pretty much have to email tech support, but I'm really happy with it.

Good unit, great support, mediocre documentation
I'm going to come back and write a more comprehensive review, however to get something published quickly, here is the skinny... My project to add variable speed to my metal lathe and get it working on my single phase power came out great and I am very happy with the VFD itself. Upon planning the setup and configuration, I noticed that there was a section of the instruction manual missing. This is the section which explains in practical detail each configuration setting. I consulted the Amazon questions section and found that emailing the seller might help. So it did. A person named Jeff emailed me 2 copies of the manual. One was in Chinese, and another translated to English. I originally thought that the Chinese version would be pretty useless to me, but read on. The Chinese to English translation of the manual seems to be done automatically via translation software. The software cuts off some of the tables and drawings, or positions the text awkwardly in relation to the referenced drawing or table. This is where the Chinese version comes in handy. The Chinese version would allow me to see complete tables and diagrams, as well as correctly positioned text. Then I am able to copy and paste the Chinese characters into Google Translate and get the full explanation. It turns out that some of the supplied translations are different than the Google translator. It turned out that Google was correct in the cases where I saw discrepancy. It was also the case where most of the supplied translations were correct and could be relied on. Although there were some issues with documentation, it was not a deal breaker. I finally felt confident enough to power up a s perform a bench test. To my surprise, all controls, inputs, switches, etc. worked as planned. I later learned that I would like a 6th input and seemed to only have 5. I emailed Jeff again, and I found he was apparently very skilled and familiar with setting up the VFD functions and parameters, even the more advanced ones. He was able to review my configuration and provide additional settings to allow me a 6th input (via using an AI as an S input). This allowed me to configure the functionality of my lathe exactly how I wanted. I highly recommend this product for the budget minded person, however please know that the documentation is not quite complete, and that the support resource is resource is excellent and can/will make up for that deficiency. Finally, I will mention a small quality issue... The binding posts for the grounds are not strong enough. Tightening them down too much can loosen them on the back side of the pc board (probably a nut) to where you cannot remove it. I had to work around this by splicing a new wire into the now permanently attached one in the motor ground post. This is a minor niggle, and probably due to my overtightening it, but a good point of warning nonetheless. I hope this helps you make a purchase decision. Let me know if you have any further questions. I also recommend reaching out to Jeff (you can find his email address in the question section) if you have any pre-purchase questions or to request the full versions of the manual.

Excellent engineered product
This VFD is very powerful and nice engineered product. There are so many parameters can be set at user level. For example, you can set oscillating output frequency, which is excellent tool for vibration control in machining. The Chinese version of the user's manual is 150 pages, with all the detail info. The only issue is the English user's manual that shipped with product is a short form (quick) manual. Highly recommended VFD for user need all the detail control

Blew up in sparks after two minutes
Worked fine for a couple of minutes, wasn't too hard to figure out the programming, hooked it to the compressor and test ran it with the valves open for a minute, closed the valves and, when the motor started loading up, BAM. Piece of junk. Of course I waited too long to try it out, so no returns either. Phooey.

Bad ass
This thing is running our greenhouse fan motor works very well. No issues so far. Update only runs 220 output at 5.8 amps which leaves our fan motor running at 13 hz which seems to draw enough air past it to keep it cool enough. But I would liked to have ran it above 20 hz. Maybe play with pulley ratio to increase performance

Highly recommended
Reliable product, well documented and with actual customer support. I have a couple of Hitachi drives as well but these work for much less money. Highly recommended!

Works like a champ so far
I had to replace a Lenze VFD that blew during a lightning storm for my German lathe and works great so far. The machine has a 2.2 KW 240V / 380V 3 phase motor and it works great so far on 230 single phase. The setup was a little complicated with all the settings but customer service is knowledgeable and awesome, they reply very quick.

Cheap, functional, yes. Programming ease for anything other than basic, not so much
Does what it is supposed to nicely. Yes, the programming instructions are minimal, but similar to name brand (like ABB) so some familiarity with inverter drive programming is helpful. The programming order isn’t as intuitive as it should be. Occasionally a parameter setting is different or absent until another parameter found later in the programming tree is set to a particular function. If you want easy buy ABB, if you want cheap get one of these. Why did you pick this product vs others?: Basi
