Well Made, Great Gift, Sharp Blade, Smooth Movement
Everything about this knife is handsome. The blade is stunning and sharp, the handle practically glows and is incredibly smooth, and the sheath the knife comes with is really nicely made. This would make a wonderful gift. The knife arrives very sharp and has maintained its edge well so far. It opens and closes very smoothly, and when open, the lock holds the blade with no wiggle.

Must have for any collector
This thing is heavy and it is also gorgeous. Pretty sure it’s not a true Damascus blade and it was made in the San Mai form but nonetheless it is an excellent blade. Sturdy. Good edge retention and a very nice leather belt attachment. This is the most I would pay for this knife. If it were $10 more and I would pass on this.

Very nice knife!
Very nice, attractive knife. Sharp out of the box. Real leather sheath. This knife has a core of Japanese VG-10 steel and two outer layers of Danascus steel. According to the description each Damascus layer has 33 layers. Technically this is a 3 layer San Mai steel with the two outer layers being Damascus. The knife opens fairly easily. It has a liner lock, which is my favorite type of locking mechanism. I can't quite open and close it with one hand the way I can with my old Buck liner lock. The outer Damascus layers give this knife a beautiful, unusual look. Very attractive. The sheath is made of thick, genuine leather and has that characteristic leather smell. The VG-10 steel is considered to be a very good knife steel, especially for kitchen knives. Typical hardness is about Rockwell 61. It will take a very sharp edge that is quite durable. Using it for the center layer with Damascus on the outside layers gives a very good quality cutting edge and lowers the overall cost of the knife steel compared to one with all VG-10.They've done a very good job with this knife.

Not actually Damascus. Nice knife though. Real leather and real maple.
I struggled to give this product a rating. I was undecided between 3 stars and 4 stars. The only negative thing about this knife is that it is not Damascus steal though the listing says it is. I am not some type of metallurgist so maybe it is but the pattern that is shown does not go the blade edge of the knife and it seems to end right at the edge of a shape in the pattern. I believe that it is most likely not Damascus steel or if it is technically Damascus steel, it has a different pattern in the blade. The knife is really nice thought. It says it has ball bearings. I know when I first got it, it was smooth but took a little more force than expected to flip out the blade. After playing with it for a bit, it flips out with minimal effort. I can't confirm nor deny whether it has ball bearings. The leather sheath does appear to be real leather and the handles do appear to be curly maple. I am a sucker for knifes with beautiful wood handles. The leather sheath is nice. It has a pattern on it.So I like the knife but not the ad so much. Claiming that it is Damascus steel made me want to give it three stars. The fact that it is a very nice knife made me want to give it 4 stars. If the price were lower or the ad mentioned that it was Damascus like engraving, I would be tempted to give it 5 stars.I ended up going with three stars. A very nice knife but it ends up with 3 stars. It locks tight. It flips out very nicely. The handles are wonderful. The shiny metal seems pretty durable and it has a nice cutout on the back of the blade. The pattern on the blade seems to be a grey finish but it looks decent. When you sharpen the blade, some of that grey finish should come off. The area by the blade is solid as if it somehow not Damascus steel. (you can see that in the ad photos)So for that reason, it gets 3 stars. It is a nice knife and it arrived very sharp. It might even technically be Damascus steel but the pattern is fake.
