Hi, thank you for your question. This measurement is 2.46 inches. All sizes of toilet paper rolls should fit, however if you have any issues you can always return the product for any reason.

Q: Will this tarnish from the condensation of showers?

Thank you for your question. This is made from SUS304 stainless steel, and therefore should not tarnish. I personally have had mine in my bathroom with a shower for over 8 months and it still looks like new.
