This book is really well laid out, I enjoy the way it’s organized. Easy to read and understand and in a story like form rather than too medical (tho still solid info). A great intro to herbs. A good chart of herb use. Worth the buy!

Practical and Easy to Read Guide to Using Herbs
Currently seeing a Naturopath and wanted to be better informed on the use of herbs. Found this book to be informative, approachable and empowering. A great purchase if you are curious about herbs but don't know where to start.

The Cellular Wellness Solution will give readers new insights into: 1) the physiology of their own cells (and why it matters); 2) their individual discomforts or illnesses; 3) how they can promote healing using herbal remedies for ailments of concern; and 5) the general limitations of the field of medicine to diagnose and treat “chronic disease.”The author is a medical doctor who has spent years researching and studying this issue. The analysis, conclusions, and recommendations in this book are supported by research and tested results, complete with page after page of references. Web links to the latest research, along with findings and recommendations with regards to herbal remedies are sprinkled throughout the text like Easter eggs.And do not let its esoteric title deter you from diving head first into this treasure. It is not a boring primer of your high school biology class. It is a practical approach to many types of plants, and herbs that have the potential to enhance your overall health. Included in the text is information about how those plants are grown, quality qualifications, potency, safety, amounts to use, and types of product preparations for use by an educated public.On top of that, the material is accessible and written for a general audience. A deeper understanding of how herbs can help keep cells healthy
If, like me, you’ve ever wondered about the relationship between what we eat and how it affects our body, this book by Dr. Rawls does a great job of educating us on how we can harness the power of herbs to stay well and avoid disease.It all comes down to our cells and keeping them healthy.No surprise here that our diet and lifestyle choices put us in the driver’s seat.But what is surprising is how well Dr. Rawls is able to explain complex medical concepts in plain English about how the body works.And then he includes well-researched and scientifically-verified information about the healing power of herbs to help us recover and maintain our health.There are no fads here—just Dr. Rawls’ solid understanding of traditional medicine, coupled with his own personal hard-fought knowledge about the function of herbs in supporting wellness.For anyone who needs additional detailed evidence of the science behind the connection between the effectiveness of herbs and wellness, there is a reference section nearly 86 pages long with citations to the relevant scientific studies.I believe Dr. Rawls has a true gift for explaining complex biological concepts in a really concise and understandable fashion.Reading each chapter, there were several times where I would say to myself, “Wow! So that’s how it works!” Clear explanations about the relationships between things such as diet and osteoporosis, adrenaline and burn out, antioxidants and free radicals, and between herbs and targeted medicines.His advice feels like common sense (which it is!), yet his explanations reveal the “Ah ha!” moment of understanding when he connects the dots for us.Dr. Rawls in plain language explains that symptoms are a manifestation of an illness. Therefore, symptoms are NOT the root cause of an illness.This is a very key distinction. Conventional western medicine, which relies on drug therapies, does not end up yielding lasting wellness for chronic illnesses since the underlying causes are not addressed.Conventional medicines only temporarily block the manifestation (in other words: the symptoms) of an illness, not the root cause.To be sure, conventional medicines produced by pharmaceutical companies certainly play an important role in our healthcare system, and we’ve all benefited from their life-saving interventions through patented drug therapies to address symptoms exhibited by diseases.However, by looking deeper for the causes rather than just the symptoms of disease, Dr. Rawls instead directs our attention to our cells. His approach focuses on the various factors that promote lasting wellness. Therefore he encourages us to harness the power of herbs so we can reap their benefits at the most important level: at the cellular level.He emphasizes that we need to nourish the mitochondria inside our cells, which he likens to tiny batteries within our cells.With that image in mind, chronic illness is simply a state of low energy. And energy is vital to sustain our life force.He further describes that since cells require energy to function, the mitochondria within our cells become depleted and deprived of energy when we are stressed, and, as a result, our cells don’t get a chance to recover from stress.Chronic stress robs our cells of their ability to keep up with their own internal repairs, which is another way of describing the function of healing. Think of this as keeping up with infrastructure. Without proper maintenance, things start falling apart. And those are the conditions which allow disease to occur.To be fair, you won’t find Dr. Rawls promoting any brand new concepts here. However, what he does do is clearly tie together existing concepts in very useful and actionable ways. His overall approach to wellness is structured around these five tenets: Nourish, Move, Defend, Calm, and Purify.The book itself is divided into four main parts: Unlocking Wellness, Embracing Herbs, Staying Well & Living Well, and Problem Solving.I’ve followed Dr. Rawls and his herbal protocols for many years now to avoid relapses from chronic Lyme disease.I’m truly blessed to recently turn 65, absent the fatigue, joint pain, and brain fog so typical of chronic Lyme disease. (It’s relevant to note that his book, “Unlocking Lyme,” is the most comprehensive resource on that subject that I have found.)Now, with all the new information in “The Cellular Wellness Solution,” I’m in the process of tweaking my diet and lifestyle choices even further to give my cells the boost that Dr. Rawls clearly describes in this book.I hope every reader will give themselves the chance to benefit from the thoroughly researched and scientific knowledge about the power of herbs that Dr. Rawls shares.There is no better time than the present to take that first step.
