Great help for everyday writing
I write a quarterly newsletter for my homeowners association and wanted to make it a worthwhile read. Someone recommended I look at this Dummies book. It was the right move. Following its suggestions and guidelines, I made sure I connected with my audience, wrote short sentences and kept to the point. The book is easy to use and I’ll go back to it when I start my next writing project.

Good resource, but the grammar section needs help.
This is a great resource for someone who wants to spiff up their business writing. I found it very helpful, but I also found other resources on the Web for free that were just as helpful, particularly for grammar issues. That said, if you don't have much need for a grammar reference then this will serve you extremely well. I need a serious grammar resource occasionally, and this isn't it. Part of my reason for buying the book was to see if there were any new suggestions for different types of modern business writing, particularly blogs or quick communications, and this book served me well.Another resource that many writers will find essential is something like the Harbrace College Handbook, which is superb. It's more academic (and also pricey at close to $100) but it's also got every bit of background you'll ever need on English grammar. Canavor does a passable job of addressing common grammatical mistakes, but I occasionally want more detail.I taught a two-day business writing and grammar course for a Federal agency in July, 2018, and had to go to my trusty Harbrace College Handbook a few times. There were a couple of professional writers in the class who wanted "chapter and verse" about some tricky issues.

Full of good advice to improve your communications for senior-level (executive) readers
This book is well organized and well-written, which one expects from a 'Dummies' book. The information in this book helped me achieve one of my goals, which was to crafted better communications to senior-level (executive) people within my company. 'Business Writing for Dummies' helped this 25-year-corporate-veteran improve her writing - everything from emails to presentations - for senior-level audience.

Strategic Guide to the Energy and Purpose of Business Communication whether in a Report, Proposal or on the Internet
Much of my scientific and business work and a substantial part of my leisure communication involves expressing ideas clearly and compellingly.I find Ms. Canavor's work a major boon to anyone who must communicate in writing on the Internet, in business proposals, or in telling a compelling non-fiction story. While many guides can be found for proper grammar and expository writing they often lack the energy and strategic thinking that this not-only-for-dummies guide provides.A must for anyone who must communicate in writing whether in business or the professions.

It's intelligent and a great desktop reference book
This is definitely not for Dummies.... It's intelligent and a great desktop reference book. With new social media and online content platforms, writing styles and etiquettes have evolved rapidly in just the past few years. When I graduated college, I got a business writing book which helped me tremendously at my first job. This book will now help me excel in other new social writings and correspondences. Great companion book to have.

Really enjoyed this book
Though much of the advice one could argue is common sense, having it spelt out and forcing a period of relection was very helpful. No absolute mind blowing items, but overall full of useful ideas for all range of written communication.

Keep this book in handy reach, whatever your business - you will need it
A useful reference source for any business. Whilst quite a lot of the text is about writing style and grammar, I am particularly interested in topics such as 'Applying for grants' and 'energizing your CV'. We live in a world of soundbites and tweets and we have forgotten how to write properly. This book is eloquently written, enabling the reader to communicate in a professional and persuasive way, whether that be in print, spoken, visual or digital media. I will keep this book in handy reach in my office.

Planned writing that works
This is an encyclopedic overview of writing. The tips range from the mundane; 'Don't use too much text on PowerPoint presentations', to profound ideas about strategic writing. The scope of the book is too vast to summarise, but there's an recurring message of keeping writing clear, punchy and concise for attention-poor audiences. There's something here for everyone, no matter what your current skill.
